Lets see, we get 2 Pro Bowl DTs and we keep GB 1st round Draft pick this year and have our 1st round this year, and have a 1st round next year, The Future is looking up for this team
Nice!!!Nah they got this one right, he’s a can’t miss barring any unforeseen injury. Dallas is thinking beyond this season and that’s a good thing.
Clarks salary is almost same as Williams so cutting him pretty much covers Williams cap hit. We still have one extra pick tooCan’t see how they keep Clark now with so much money at DT. Looking more and more like we traded Micah for Williams straight up. Especially if they trade down with the GB pick to get a 2nd and 3rd, which I think is highly likely.
The folks in charge are just too busy managing the natural gas business and prepping the yacht for upcoming voyages.I do not necessarily take issue with the specific moves lately, but my major problem is that the timing of these moves indicates that there is basically no grander strategy being employed.
Why in the world are we lighting draft capital on fire when we have a historically bad defense that will need 5+ new starters to even be competitive next year?
Why was Micah Parsons not traded before the draft or even the previous season when we clearly had no intention of winning the next two years and had likely already decided we were probably not going to resign him?
Why did we not trade for a single impact player from 2021-2023 when this team had a real, concrete chance at winning the super bowl with just another great defensive player to put them over the top, but now we're throwing picks like they expire tomorrow to save a god forsakenly awful team this year?
The decision making is just completely manic, emotionally driven, and schizophrenic. Where is the vision for this team actually going? Absolutely nowhere in my opinion.
The Jets weren't in fire sale mode back when Micah was here. If Dallas approached them about Williams a year or two ago they would have been rebuffed. We should have done this deal when Micah was here. That's what the Eagles do, over and over and over.
Clark will take a friendly deal or walk. He's getting up there in age. The defense still needs 3 linebackers, a legitimate pass rusher, and an entire secondary. These two moves are a start, but this defense is at least 3-4 years away
Do you think we can get Quinnen Williams with our 2nd round pick in April? He's a blue chip top 5 pick/player. We get him for this year AND next year and the rights to sign him to another contract. We need the player what difference does it make when we get him? The time was now, sooner is better than later.I do not necessarily take issue with the specific moves lately, but my major problem is that the timing of these moves indicates that there is basically no grander strategy being employed.

Like you, my issue isn’t the players we acquired. Quinnen Williams is a good acquisition. My issue is this FO never seems to have any real roster building plan outside of marketing its product.I do not necessarily take issue with the specific moves lately, but my major problem is that the timing of these moves indicates that there is basically no grander strategy being employed.

That's the great part Bob - There is absolutely, positively no plan.Like you, my issue isn’t the players we acquired. Quinnen Williams is a good acquisition. My issue is this FO never seems to have any real roster building plan outside of marketing its product.
Put another way - why should any cowboys fan have any confidence that this FO knows what it is doing or even has a long term plan?
Now let's pair up the Williams trade with extending Pickens, Williams and Aubrey and see how that makes our Defense better. That's the great part Bob - There is absolutely, positively no plan.
I wanted to throw my laptop across the room when I saw we acquired Quinnen Williams this morning not because I don't like the player (He's incredible and I am excited to have him in Dallas for the next few seasons) but because a trade like this literally may have gotten us to the super bowl in 2021, 2022, or 2023.
It is infuriating that now is when we make such a crazy move.
There is nearly ZERO chance this front office extends Pickens. They can't stand too much of a good thing. Now let's pair up the Williams trade with extending Pickens, Williams and Aubrey and see how that makes our Defense better.
Sounds like a great plan to me.
Let's go back to a 1 man defense and see how that works out.
This is exactly what I was thinking. Can you imagine if this type of trade was as made in 2022? Their weakness was the middle of the defense and getting pushed around. This is why the Cowboys have been mediocre for 3 decades. The GM only makes this type of move when the roster is on fire. This move doesn’t get this team any closer if they don’t fill the other major holes they have. And if the Cowboys get good enough in a few years, the Jones boys will sit on their hands and pat themselves on the back because the team wins 10 games and maybe a wild card game.I do not necessarily take issue with the specific moves lately, but my major problem is that the timing of these moves indicates that there is basically no grander strategy being employed.
