My Meaningless Thoughts on the Game
by Yakuza Rich

- After watching the first two weeks of football and in particular the Denver vs. San Diego game and then this game, I get nervous like I did in 2005 when the refereeing was horrific in the beginning and all of my friends thought I was overreacting and I warned that this horrible, awful refereeing would show up in the postseason for the country to see. The Troy Polamalu “incomplete pass” and then the Seahawks vs. Steelers Super Bowl redeemed my claims. I get that feeling after tonight’s game. For the Eagles O-Line to not be called on ONE holding penalty was a complete and utter joke, except I’m not laughing despite my team winning. I don’t expect every holding call to be called, but at least half of them or at least when you’re calling the same holding against the other team. And I won’t go into the Henry PI call and the Jackson FUMBLE.
- Dallas was blitzing, but doing it mostly on 1st and 2nd downs. Sending only 4 on obvious passing downs.
- I’m getting really sick of the Cover 4.
- I’ll give the Eagles credit, they tackle well.
- Defense looked confused a lot of the time tonight.
- Too many blitzes up the gut for my tastes when they weren’t working
- Where did this team learn to tackle? Is there a football camp that teaches to grab the facemask? Is Rodney Harrison a head instructor?
- Proctor was bad in the first half, but actually came around in the second half. Kudos.
- Flo struggled badly in the first half, although it looked like Proctor had a lot to do with it.
- Why wasn’t Felix the kickoff returner from day one? He was tremendous tonight.
- Where are the people that said Garrett couldn’t adjust to Jim Johnson’s defense? The big key I saw was we stuck with the running game. It wasn’t overly great by any means, but it helped keep the Eagles honest.
- A win is a win, especially against a divisional rivals. Really concerned about the defense, hopefully we’ll get it straightened out. Need to cut down on silly penalties immediately. Look out for Green Bay next Sunday. I’m beat.
