My meaningless thoughts on the game...

-I only charted one poor long snap and that was on a PAT.

-KUDOS to the right side of the O-Line that actually played far better than the left side (although Flozell was good). We actually ran the ball well on the right side for once.

-Bledsoe was getting out into the pocket much faster today and that's why he had more time. He's still a bit slow when it comes to 3 step drops for whatever reason.

-EXCELLENT job against the blitz. Not only from a blocking perspective, but from a playcalling perspective and sight adjustments from Bledsoe and the wide receivers.

-5 penalties for 48 yards. And one of them was on a crappy Pass Interference call on Henry.

-I *think* we could have the most underrated secondary in the league if we can get decent play out of the free safety spot.

-Kenyon Coleman was inactive which was strange as he's been starting and he wasn't injured. They must really like Ratliff and Canty.

-16 sacks in 5 games. That's impressive no matter how you slice it. And if we keep up that pace, chances are we make the playoffs.

-The Skins lost and their fans are blaming the refs. Stop me if you've heard that one before.

-WORST CALL EVER. The refs allow Andy Reid to review the Thompson fumble that cannot be reviewed. It's the WORST CALL EVER because they had minutes to stop and think about it AND it's probably the most common rule when it comes to instant replay.

-My main gripe against Payton's playcalling, besides not featuring Witten more, is that he gets conservative inside the red zone. On the second drive where Dallas was stopped at the Philly 1, he was a bit conservative, but other than that he was aggressive inside the red zone.

-Keep throwing the ball to Witten. He completely opens up the offense.

-I thought our WR's and offense were old and slow?

-Two things that mystify me about this team in the past few years. 1, opposing kickers NEVER MISS field goals against us. 2, our returners NEVER break the tackle of an opposing kicker or punter.

-How do you like this rookie class? So far Spears, Ware, Canty, Pettiti, Ratliff and Thompson have all made good/significant contributions. Then there's Burnett who played well today and Pepper Johnson on the bench.

-Brett Pierce is turning into a good player to have since he's a decent TE and very good on special teams.

-I believe this team is still on the brink of something really really good. When they are mentally sharp, they seem to be a real good if not great team. Plus, after the game you could see the offensive players high fiving the defensive players and the Ware and Keyshawn yukking it up. It's not common to see that type of relationship between offensive and defensive players on the same team. Hopefully, they can keep this up.

I noticed the same thing during the game about running right... Parcells has shown a tendency to run left behind the Pro Bowlers, but today it seemed like most of our big runs were to the right. I wonder if Parcells has lost a little trust in LA and Flo after so many missed blocks at key times.

Or, maybe he just wanted to run at Kearse.

Whatever it was, Rivera and Petitti really played great today.

Parcells does run it to the right and anytime they run a toss to Julius, it's almost always to the right side. Today it was working well so they kept going to it.

That being said, Kearse is awful in run defense and has been for years.

Well, that means he's good. I see they insert him in nickel situations.

It seemed like there were more pitchouts in general than usual... Which IMO is great, because we need to get our backs outside, and that stretch handoff play takes too long to develop.

I brought up that fact in the middle of last season, and I went back a few days ago and looked at it again. Going back to Game 13 of the 2002 season, our opponents have now made 62 of their past 66 field goals -- a whopping 93.94 percent! During Parcells' tenure, it's 54-for-58. And the only misses have come from 48, 52, 48 and 57 yards. So they've hit EVERY kick inside 48 yards for almost the past three years.

And it has nothing to do with us, because we've been among the leaders in blocked extra points over that time period (mostly by Flozell). It's just pure bad luck.

That's just disheartening. I knew the other team made a lot but had no idea the % was that high.

You mentioned Whitten...

It was great to see the TE that far out making plays. Kudos to both him and bled.

Didn't he have 80 yards? How could we feature him more? Are you expecting TE to top 100 yards every game?

My observations from a 9 beer, sore throat, exciting game:

1) Aggressive playcalling. Actually using good field position and attacking a team. What a concept. The way you stop a bully is to fight back. And that is what we saw today overall. The nerd whipped the bully.

2) Julius Jones looked like Julius Jones today. The one thing that bothered me was that no one in the Fox booth made it a point to find out his status and why he was not in the game in the second half. Even after the fluke touchdown by the Eagles, no one wondered about Julius. If the Eagles would have made a comeback, would Julius have played?

3) The blocking was the best its been all year; pass and run. They gave Pettiti help and Jevon Kearse was no factor at all. I think we'll see more of the same next week with Dan Campbell blocking on Micheal Strahan.

4) The corners finally have forgotten about week 2. They played T.O. very well and I noticed Terrance Newman on him a lot today.

5) Tyson Thompson runs with no fear, but he needs to learn how to hold onto the ball. A quicker, better Reshard Lee.

No. But last year we did have him line up out wide. Almost every time we did that, we not only threw it his way, but he caught it most of the time. And that's according to KC Joyners Scientific Football book, so I'm not the only one thinking that.

It's obvoius that Bledsoe loves to look for Glenn first and probably Keyshawn second. So I believe that we need to feature Witten more because he helps the offense more and Bledsoe doesn't look his way.

Jevon Kearse should wear the tag as the most overrated player in the league for a while. This guy has nine sack in 20 something games and is still thought of as an elite pass rusher.
