Guys:

First it's the first game and the team was probably tired so I don't think we can go crazy over what we saw. However these are my impressions:

-We may have a player in rookie Williams-I know he was horrible, but he seemed to have the physical ability and the linebacker mentality. A year or so from now we may have something.

-Carpender is just sad, he seemed to cover well, but I have yet to see him make a head on tackle. We still need him until the young guys improve. Heaven help us if we have injuries in the linebacker core early in the season.

-Butler has potential but needs techinque work and additional strength.

-Brown is not an NFL cornerback

-I was disappointed in Mickens, but his head may have been spinning

-Hopeful about the OL backups-hard to tell in a preseason game

-Romo and crew looked good, but again preseason game. If Felix can stay healthy we may be OK.

-Couldn't tell too much about rookie Hamlin-did make a tackle or two.

Overall I have hope that we can move forward as a team. Romo should be better, there is no doubt in my mind that the Hollywood scene had distracted him to some extent.

Thoughts?

Carpenter will be required to play coverage so that may not be a huge issue.

Brown should go soonest...he can take Pat watkins with him....

All the teams are tired from the rigors of training camp but we should be fresher than most due to the fact that we have gone away from the full contact approach that most teams take. We should have come out fresh and really taken it to them.

Keep in mind - yes this was the first pre-season game - but we got the **** kicked out of us by one of the worst teams in the NFL. That is the bottom line.

We have a lot of work to do....not only as a team but from a managment standpoint - we need to come up with a vet tackle that can provide some OL depth, we need a vet NT to back up Rat (we have no one worth anything behind him) and we need a vet CB to provide some depth until the kids can get their feet wet. JJ and the boys in the office need to make some moves if they feel this team is going to contend for a championship.

SB winning, or at least contending teams make saavy decisions that fill glaring rroster needs at times when it seems impossible. That is what makes them great - year in and year out....

Mickens,Butler and Williams all seem to be 1-2 years away. That's fine but they just seem like a deer in the headlights. Great talent but give them time and I think they will be pushing for starting spots. Butler needs technique like you said because he simply cannot bullrush.

Excluding the first unit offense, there were too many fundamental mistakes made in the first pre-season game.

Exhaustion could have something to do with it, but there are several other franchises in this league that looked competitive even when their 2nd and 3rd units were out there, so it is what it is, tired or not, there is a problem and has been with blown assignments.

Its week one of preseason, so thats the only excusable exception as far as Im concerned, so lets give it a break, maybe even a reprieve until the Titans role in to town for friday night.

Its only preseason, and only week one, but this is our house, our house! and the new home for the Cowboys, and a little bit more inspired play should be expected friday night.

Bout time to get this wagon rolling!

How did you do a review and not conclude Siavii is the worst player ever? Everyone else who did a review noticed that:rolleyes:

cool. Now I will say our young guys will make some mistakes this year and we will be frustrated, however I truly believe this year will set the stage for a great 2010.

Our starters on both sides of the ball are good enough to play with anybody. Reserves are another story. The O Line and D Line in particular need to stay healthy for this team to go anywhere this year. Any major injuries there, season nose dives.

I agree with our starters and as for or backups, they don't have to play with anybody as a unit. Mixing them in individually with the starters, I think they'll be just fine.

Linebacking corps. Romo and company definitely looked good in their brief action, despite running basic plays. Romo looked a lot better holding the football, especially in the pocket.

Good observations! :D
