Yeah, but Williams' lack of impact is probably why traded to get Dez. Our new approach to our offense would make drafting a receiver meaningless, especially if we let Murray walk.

Our offense would be way more effective with two WR's on the field as opposed to one and a half

It's fair to say that guys like Lawrence and Crawford will improve. That along with drafting a 3 down SDE who isn't 240-250 nickel pass rusher will make everyone better. Including the depth guys we already have on the roster who people think nothing of.

That's why I have Preston Smith on my mock. He'd be a good fit for the SDE spot and can platoon with Brandon Graham.

So you don't like Williams on the outside? He makes plays. Beasley in the slot is perfect as well. Don't see adding a receiver would be the direction this team goes unless the Dez situation takes a surprisingly wrong turn for the worse.

So if I have this right your first rounder backs up Lawrence or visa versa and the 2nd round LB backs up Lee? Graham and Smith are your SDE's and Mincey is the 5th DE or he is gone?

He makes play a couple games a year and disappears for half the year. Williams has regressed and he is a very low end starting WR. Beasley is a good slot WR, but he is a slot WR only

If we do resign them. Durant has missed time since he's been here due to injuries. McClain can be our Mike if he is in fact resigned. Lee will move to WLB and I still can't count on him being healthy for a full season.

As far as Harold is concerned I don't see how being 6' 4, 250 lbs is a tweener when he's an inch taller than Lawrence who is listed at 251 LBS (which I think is inaccurate).

No way he is 250. He's about 235-240. He looks skinny. I don't think he's a 43 DE. Plays OLB now in a 34 at virgina. He's quick but that's about it.
Only 7 sacks in a bad ACC. I just don't see 1st round 43 DE when I watch him. I think cbssports is right with a 3rd round

Also I don't care if you can't relief on lee. I'm not drafting a back up in the 2nd. I can get a back up LB in the 4th. Like last year.
I'll take paul dawson over striker anyways.

I disagree. It's only williams 2nd year. Everyone has a sophomore slump. He's not a 1 but I think he can be a 2. Still developing.

Yeah I don't get what this guy is trying to do. He must have liked the 2009 draft. Let's just add depth forget about guys that can play and contribute.

I don't know if some of these guys were around to see our 90's SB winners but Willimas is better than Harper, Witten much better than Novacek, and I venture to say that Beasley is better than any 3rd WR we had back then.

It would be a rotation. One that has been used by examples I've already stated. I guess NY was foolish picking up DEs like that.

Are you saying Sean Lee is going to contribute a full season now?

Smith and Graham would be our SDEs. We'd have Mincey in the rotation as well being next year is his last year he's on contract.

I didn't weigh the man, I go off what is listed.

So we have depth in our edge position now?? So successful teams like NY and SEA only used one DE on each side and that was it?

So we are counting on Lee to be the WLB all season?

Nope. Very doubtful AND Durant play a full season next year assuming we bring him back. I advocate drafting backup LB's in the same 4-5 range we did this year to get us to 11-4 this far.

Our notable receivers in the 90's stopped after Harper. We had nothing else and since Emmitt was our offense we didn't need the 3rd receiver.

Nobody said we have depth now and no one is saying just use one. Just don't intentionally draft backups high vs drafting starters.

I agree. I can find depth in the mid rounds. I draft the bpa that can help me now. Especially the 1st 2 rounds.

Has Durant given us a full season since he's been here? So pay him more $ that can go to FA in areas of need (DE) so he can just back up Lee vs drafting someone with youth who will be cheaper down the road and doing essentially the same thing you want Durant to do?

I was talking about LBs. Also those teams get depth on the edge in mid rou d's and FA. They draft starters in the 1st 2 rounds.

Get me a starter in the 1st round. Jerry has said for years. 1st round players are starters. BPA that can contribute day 1.

You say drafting back ups and I say adding quality rushers as part of a rotation to keep players fresh.
