Release:
Brandon Carr- Adds about $6.3 million in cap space
Terrell McClain- Adds about $1 million in cap space
Restructure:
Tyron Smith- Adds about $7.4 million in cap space
Dez Bryant- Adds about $6.2 million in cap space
Tyrone Crawford- Adds about $4.8 million in cap space
Resign:
Robert Turbin- To be honest, this would only be for a deal with almost no guarantees, because I don't think he'd make it through training camp.
Lance Dunbar- I think he can be signed for a modest amount. Brings a lot to the table, so I would bring him back.
Charles Brown- Another deal with no guarantees, depending on how good Chaz Green is, we can release Free and Brown can be the swing tackle.
Ronald Leary- RFA...no brainer, unless someone wants to trade for him, which I doubt.
Mackenzy Bernadeau- Good enough to start in a pinch and his flexability are enough reason to bring him back, however, if the draft provides an option to replace him, we should explore it.
Jack Crawford- Good rotational player, should definately bring back on a modest deal
Rolondo McClain- Willing to go one more season with McClain. Don't really want to, but I'd rather not go into the draft needing a starting ILB and there aren't any players in free agency that bring what he brings. It would be another 1 year, incentive based deal.
Kyle Wilber- I think James Hanna leaves for an opportunity to play more as a TE, and I don't think it will be smart to lose 2 special teams contributors in one offseason.
Jeff Heath- RFA...no brainer
Danny McCray- Another special teams contributor, makes no sense to not resign him given he will make only the vet minimum.
Sign:
DeMarcus Ware- I think it's a given that Ware is cut, he is not a $10 million dollar a year player, but his 17.5 sacks over the last two years are more than anyone else on the Cowboys. On top of that, I think his veteran leadership with young guys like Gregory would be invaulable.
Ahtyba Rubin- I think Seattle will really focus on bringing him back, but if we can steal him, I would definately attempt it. I think he's a huge upgrade over Hayden and he would not be that expensive.
Casey Heyward- As much as I would like Trumain Johnson, I think Heyward's demands will be much closer to what we want to pay. He's only been a part time starter, but may be a good #2 here. No ints last year, but 3 in 2014. 0 in 2013, but 6 in 2012.
Brandon Boykin- With Scandrick coming off injury and with Carr and Claiborne gone, we do need to add a second CB. Should also be cheap and has in the past been a play maker, logging 6 ints in 2013 (only 1 each of the last 2 years).
Draft:
1.) Carson Wentz, QB, North Dakota State- This can be Wentz or Goff depending on who Cleveland takes, but I just don't think it would be a good idea to pass on a QB. If the coaching staff does not believe any of the three posses the ability to lead a team to a championship, then by all means pass, but I think physically, all three poses the ability to be franchise QBs.
2a.) Williams Jackson III, CB, Houston- Really like him and his potential fit in this defense. This season he had 5 ints and 23 passes deflected, he has length and is an aggressive tackler. Right now CBS has him ranked 55th, but I think we will be lucky if he's there at 34. Would not suprise me to see Braxton Miller here or with the next pick, but I think Jackson is a better prospect.
2b.) Derrick Henry, RB, Alabama- I really think behind this o-line, Henry can be a dominant back. I think with our blocking he's going to punish defenders late in games and could have a Marion Barber III type season with quite a few redzone TDs. He falls a bit, but I'd trade up from our 3rd round (giving up our 4th and a Oakland's 6th) to get him.
4.) Javon Hargrave, DT, South Carolina State- Small school prospect, but he could provide a great return on investment. We are usually think at the 1 tech and coicidently we are a middle of the road team stopping the run, so I would like to see us draft a DT at some point.

Only mocking the first 4 pick, but with the remaining 3, I'd like to add an OT, WR and another CB. Order depends on the value at each pick

Well thought out an one of the most realistic off season plans I have seen posted. I'd like to see a DT instead of a CB with the 2nd pick. But an awesome post.

Like it mostly all. Other than, the signing of Ware as a FA unless its that retire signing.
Reluctant about Ro also.
Good job

Unless it's because you want to see Hardy return, I don't see how anyone can be against Ware returning prior to knowing how much money it will take.

Every body loves Ware Im moving on to younger players.
Lawrence and Gregory should be starters and Ware would be a progress stopper.

I would not resign Lance Dunbar whem I can get Jordan Canzeri, RB Iowa 5-9 / 192 lbs as a UDFA

Not sure about Ware theres got to be a younger guy they like
and I am done with Rolondo McClain just go ahead an draft a new MLB

And if someone drafts him in the 7th? Or he rather go some where else? Smart move is to resign Dunbar and if a better option presents itself, release him. Not like he's going to command a long term deal with lots of guaranteed money.
