QB (2)- Romo, Weeden. Orton is as good as good. Hanie is just a guy, we could get him back midseason if we needed to. And I think we stash Vaughn on the PS.
RB/FB (4)- Murray, Dunbar, Williams, Copeland. Williams beats out Randle who simply doesn't impress. Malena goes to the PS.
TE (3)- Witten, Escobar, Najvar. Hanna gets beaten out by a better blocker.
WR (6)- Dez, TWill, Beaz, HArris, Street, Washington.
OL (8) Tyron, LEary, Mack, Fred, Martin, Free, Weems, Parnell
DL (10) Selvie, Lawrence, Mincey, Crawford, Melton, McClain, Bishop, Coleman, Gardner, Okoye
LB (7) Carter, Holloman, Durant, Wilber, Smith, Hitchens, Lemon
CB (5) Carr, Mo, Oscan, Mitchell, Moore- Patrom is close but goes to the PS, Webb is cut.
S (5) Church, JJ, Dixon, Johnson, Hamilton. Ryan Smith could supplant Johnson if Johnson is hurt again.
ST (3) Bailey, Jones, Frenchie. Mandell could win the job but I think Jones holds on.
There you have it boys and girls- your 2014 Dallas Cowboys......
P.S. Think Spencer and Lee both start on PUP
QB (2)- Romo, Weeden.
RB/FB (4)- Murray, Dunbar, Williams,
Copeland, Clutts. Williams beats out Randle who simply doesn't impress. Malena goes to the PS.
Clutts has the inside track here for sure. He was signed late last year and with a full offseason of getting familiar with the offense will be the FB if we keep one.
TE (3)- Witten, Escobar,
Najvar. Hanna
They could go with someone else besides Hanna, but I think they stick with him for another year.
WR (5)- Dez, TWill, Beaz, HArris, Street,
Washington.
With the flexibility that Escobar brings I think we may only go with 5 WR here.
OL (9) Tyron, Leary, Mack, Fred, Martin, Free, Weems, Parnell, (Guard)
We wont go with just 8 Olineman I don't believe. Add another Guard here as a back up.
DL (10) Lawrence,
Mincey, Crawford, Melton, McClain, Bishop, Coleman, Gardner,
Okoye, Bass, Wilson, Selvie
This is where it gets interesting. I think they go with 10 here, depending on if the last spot is a more talented/potential player than a player at another position. I don't have much hope for Okoye or Spencer doing anything. The last 3 spots come down to Selvie, Bush, Wilson, Rayford, Mincey, Bass or a pickup after cut downs. Out of the bunch currently, I'd say Bass makes it because he is experienced and can play inside and out. Mincey is 30, has been cut by almost as many teams as he has career sacks, and I don't think football is a priority to him. Selvie is JAG. Looked adequate last year on a bad, bad defense. Wore down at was non existent at the end of the year. Rayford and Martin both have more physical skill than Selvie. Wilson with speed and Rayford with length. Bush is much like Selvie, just younger.
So it depends on who shines in camp. I'd love to see Wilson put it all together and be a player because he's a true weakside end with lots of speed and that's what we need to backup Lawrence. Rayford is a guy that's been around the block in the Arena league, but showed some things in Indy which is why we traded for him. He got hurt last year and is still recovering from that, so we haven't seen much of him.
I'm going with Wilson and Selvie. I'm not impressed with Selvie at all, but both he and Rayford are both around the same age and Selvie has a year of this defense under his belt. We will be looking long and hard once the cut downs begin to find another pass rusher for the weakside, but those guys don't typically get cut.
I want this defensive line to be young, hungry and determined.
LB (6) Carter, Holloman, Durant, Wilber, Smith, Hitchens,
Lemon
I think they would go with a guy like Sapp over Lemon if they keep 7
CB (6) Carr, Mo, Oscan, Mitchell, Moore, Patmon
They may only go with 5 here, but with the nickel being used so much now you almost need to keep 6 CBs. Those last two spots will depend on if Webb can show more than he did last year and if they finally decide to go with Moore, who has been cut the last couple of years.
S (5) Church, JJ, Dixon,
Johnson, Heath, Hamilton. Ryan Smith could supplant Johnson if Johnson is hurt again.
That last spot could come down to either Hamilton or Ryan Smith. Hamilton is a little more athletic, but not as physical. I'd give the edge to Hamilton now because he has a better understanding of the defense. I think Johnson is out. I never hear any player even mention his name when discussing the position. Church was on the radio recently and mentioned JJ, Heath and Hamilton. Heath being very smart and Hamilton being the most athletic.
ST (3) Bailey, Jones, Frenchie. Mandell could win the job but I think Jones holds on.
