My prediction for GB

(Sorry for the title typo)

Hear me out. Not so much a prediction as daydream of poetic justice.

We lose in Green Bay this weekend.

But the Vikings are too much for the Packers to overcome, and they have to settle for a wild card.

We handle our business and win the division.

Packers have to come to Dallas in the playoffs where they lose. (Imagine that, we don't have to play in Green Bay for once)

Like I said, not much of a prediction as random musings.

Yep, Green Bay will enter the game as around a 4-point favorite, although it's still possible Dak Prescott will continue to produce shock and awe. Big things can and do happen when a team is emotionally on the upswing and playing their hearts out in the way that we are now. It's difficult at best to predict the future in a league as closely competitive as the NFL. Surprises are fairly commonplace each and every week.

It's even conceivable that a surprise win in Green Bay by an amazingly turned on Cowboys team could serve as a catalyst for Jerry to experience a change of heart and allow Dak & Co. to continue their quest for glory into the playoffs and who knows what else. To quote our old former nemesis, George Allen, "anything can happen when 52 (now 54) men play together." I believe that still holds true -- we shall see about that on Sunday. ;)

I like the shock and awe label. There is a undeniable energy this team is displaying.
The two rookies and even the four rookies [Collins and Brown] are making things happen..
But the offense is magnetic with Zeek running the ball and the steady hand of Dak
glided the machine down the field. The defense is like 14 with Marinelli waving his magic dust
into the eyes of his charges and their running through brick walls for him.

I haven't got a handle on who we can beat or lose too. But we'll win this division this year IMO.

Even with preparation, I don't think the Packers will be ready for the Cowboys. They're going to get taken by surprise unless the refs decide to help the pack yet again.

from a packer fan at the packer forums...

"Am I the only guy who is worried about this game?

Dak P reminds me a lot of Colin K in his prime. And they run the zone read offense.

We have not faced that yet this year. And if you recall, the Niners made mincemeat out of us when they ran that against us.

And, from what I have seen of this new RB they have, he is faster than Gore. Plus, the Cowboys have the best OL in football. They can both drive block and pass block. (Just happy Collins is out, or they would have five Pro Bowl types.) If Eliot breaks into our secondary, neither Burnett not Dix will run I'm down from behind unless they have an angle.

The other thing is that Dak P can throw on the run well. That means they roll him out and he can either run or pass.

Don't underestimate this Cowboys team. They look good on offense to me. I mean we had our problems with a poor Giants team at home off a bye.

The advantage we have is our offense against their defense. So we better capitalize on it"

and another one...

Dak P. makes a huge difference for the already-potent running game. His ability to run opens up a LOT for Elliot.

When Dallas runs the read-option they leave the back-side DE unblocked. That D-end has to decide who to play. Since they can leave that back-side end unblocked they can double BOTH of the interior DL in a 4-3 scheme (and both of our interior DL in our nickel package). Dallas' interior OL don't need any help as is - and the ability of their C Frederick to get to the second level after that double is also a huge asset. Add to that an electric and strong rookie RB? My goodness - they completely dominated a GOOD Cincy defense yesterday.

I'm not sure how I would defend it. Last night vs. the Giants the defense stuffed the run out of our nickel package with two safeties playing deep. I'm quite confident that we'll not be able to run that same defense vs. Dallas. I'd imagine Dom plays a lot of base defense. (Perfect timing for Pennel'ls return!) I'd also wager a bet that Burnett drops down into the box quite often.

I'd like to see Matthews play some ILB on running downs. We have to have guys in there that can take on some massive OL. Matthews and Ryan are the best we have for that job. My starting 11 would be the following:

HHCD Burnett
Matthews Ryan
Perry D. Jones
Gunter Daniels Guion Pennel Randall"

My biggest concern for the game is, the pretty boy and how much time he has to throw as well as Cobb, Adams, Cook and Nelson.

I know a GB fan, and he says might as well give GB the win before the game even starts !
Good to know some GB fans are wary of Dallas.
Winning this game is huge for Dak.

Agreed.

Carr had Jordy in a box during the playoff game, but it'll be hard to replicate that. Brown has been amazing for a rookie, but he hasn't faced a slot WR like Cobb yet.

Davante Adams destroyed us during that playoff game (think most of the damage was done on Sterling Moore) but I don't expect MoClay to be having any of that this time around.

We didn't have MO in that game. I would put Mo on jordy and its a wash. The guy that worries me is Cobb.

Yeah I remember.

Our secondary was terrible that game... Moore getting ate up on the outside, Scandrick getting ate up by Cobb, safeties taking terrible angles.

But with Claiborne, Byron Jones, and Brown this time around, we have the pieces to match up. It's the strength of the defense.
