- Jason Witten's longest reception of the year is 22 yards. He had 8 games last year in which his longest reception was 22+ yards, and 9 such games in 2007. His career long is 53 and he's never finished a season with a long of less than 34 yards. My assumption is that defenses simply aren't letting Witten streak up the seam without a safety watching him. Maybe with Austin's emergence, we can get Witten up the seam more often.
- Miles Austin... much as I'm loving the kid, his TD celebrations need work. I read that he aimed the ball for an Eagles logo behind the endzone last night and missed. He botched the dunk attempt vs. Seattle and had to settle for the finger-roll. There was the cheesy "check me out" strut vs. Atlanta, the "oh crap!" moment where he thought he might've fumbled before crossing the plane in Kansas City and had to dive back on the ball. :laugh2: Maybe he should just go the Witten route... hand the ball to the refs, high-five your teammates. Seems like it would match Austin's personality better anyways.
- Romo's been wearing his cap forward as often as he wears it backwards, if not more often.
- I hope more fans are getting back in Patrick Crayton's corner. For the past few years, he's been one of the more disliked Cowboys players among Cowboys fans, and it was never really fair. His trash-talking never hurt the team, and he should be forgiven for the drop vs. the Giants since he drops passes so infrequently. He's a team-first guy who has handled his demotion well and continues to make plays every single week to help the 'Boys win. A true pro.
- I miss Barber's vicious stiff-arms/punches. Looks like he's removed them from his game.
- I never really paid much attention to Stephen Bowen until this year. Bet I'm not the only one. Guy's providing a spark off the bench.
- Anthony Spencer, starter: 0 sacks. Victor Butler, rookie with very limited playing time: 3 sacks. Let's get it going, Anthony.
- Keith Brooking has thrived where Zach Thomas failed. We needed that sort of leader last year but Thomas never even tried to be one. But it's a lot easier to lead when you're playing well yourself... Keith thrived under Wade in Atlanta and is thriving under him in Dallas. Zach was never comfortable in our D.
- Our health thus far has been much more reminiscent of 2007 than 2008, and that excites the hell out of me. If we can continue to stay reasonably healthy, no way this team finishes worse than 11-5. I just can't fathom us losing 4 of our next 8 if health isn't an issue.
