My take on the impact of the Loss of Wentz for the Cowboys and Triumph for Eagles

Eagles are my new favorite for winning the NFCE. They now will posse three QBs with one that will be the QB to lead them to SBs in the future. They have two veteran QBs to get them though this year and the next QB leaning to be the future of the franchise. The Eagles are set to dominate the division for a long time. Yes they will need other player to help do this but they will have the keystone for building the team of the future.

Now how will the Cowboys do this draft? Drafting defense will help a lot to keep the cowboys going 8-8 this year (losing Romo to injury). Drafting Offense will also have the same effect of going 8-8 this year (no Wentz and Romo going down with injury). They will then be drafting in the middle rounds for the see able future.

The moral of this story is the Cowboys will waste the 4th pick this year and will be paying for this poor decision for a long time. They will trade down and pick up more players that will be OK, but not impact players to win SBs with.

My take would be to concentrate on defense this year and look toward next year for the offensive side of the ball.

To bad that Dallas was not that foresighted.

I suggest they go BPA regardless of what side of the ball the player plays on. That will improve the team over targeting only defensive players.
Elliott will be BPA at 4 so I take him. He will improvethe defense as much as a defensive player would. You want to improve the overall team no matter what position they play

I think Wentz is a winner and wish he had been drafted outside our division.
But Wentz will do nothing for the Eagles this year. He may not be ready next year but he might
he's good. Because you dont get to take the prettiest girl to the prom is no reason to pee on
the school mascot.

Last time I checked other teams won Super Bowls during the careers of Tom Brady, Peyton Manning, Joe Montana, John Elway and Terry Bradshaw.

I'm not worried about Carson Wentz.

Now, if during his tenure, he leads the Eagles to all the NFC division titles and the Super Bowl, I'll rue the fact that we didn't make a play to get him. But I don't expect that to happen.

If we can just get Wentz to bobble a field goal snap in the playoffs and get perpetually labeled a choker, it might lessen the perception that he's a franchise quarterback and the Savior of an organization wallowing in futility.

Just saying.

So what your are suggesting is we stockpile picks for after wentz's career is over?

If we can get 10 first rounders for 2030...we should be able to compete once he retires

One thing adding Wentz DID NOT do for Philly was help their chances to win the division THIS year.

Or next year or the year after that. Wentz is 2-3 years away from playing at a level necessary to win consistently. Assuming he isn't a bust. Meanwhile they used a lot of future ammo to help build there team. I remember people saying the same about RG3 and the Commanders. How'd that turn out?

Yea...drafting a 5th year senior who didn't start until his junior year and didn't dominate at North Dakota State should have us all shaking.

Wentz- is the one QB who doesn't have me shaking and actually has me lol'ing

And yes.. Cornering the market on crappy qbs with no OL or skill position players has them dominating for the next decade.

LOL!

Think th OP made since, Philly seems to be prepared to compete today while building for the future...on the other hand, the Cowboys Window is closing and could slam shut with one hit to Tony Romo....Not sure the Cowboys are focused on the future. The draft will tell us a lot.

He may not help them this year but in a few years I bet he is kicking our *** all over the field. I am down that we aren't going to be getting a qb that we need for the future when we are at the top of the draft.

It sucks but hopefully Jerry capitalizes on the pick he chooses.

uuuhhmm.......the qB keeping him on the bench won 3 straight FCS championships......whats a coach to do...whats a coach to do.......

"didn't dominate at ND State?.......***.........2 straight championships, set NCAA time of possention records as part of a team philosophy.....kinda like saying Aikman "didn't dominate" because of his low number of 300plus yard passing games........ but just got rings with Emmitt available.......

my take on the eagles moving to #2 to get Wentz

1) THANK GOD! I think he could be a good plyer, but nothing jumps out at me to suggest he is worth selling the farm for (see point #2)
2) The eagles sold the farm...all of their eggs are in the CW basket...if he isn't what Risen and others think he might, maybe, could be some day, then not only did they saddle themselves with an average player, but they gave up this draft and next to get him, further putting themselves down the "Kelly screwed us bad" whole

my take is that the Cowboys are in close to as good of a situation that they can be in with the #4 pick with, presumably, the first two picks going to QB...Ramsey? yeah, bring him on...if SD takes Ramsey, then make sure the cell phones are all charged up for the offers for Tunsil...no offers for him? then take him and have the most dominant, young OLine in the league

That QB that kept him on the bench at ND State, how is his NFL career going? Oh, he made a training camp as an undrafted free agent before getting cut? Sitting on the bench for a CFL team now. The guy that won THREE Championships and had 47 college wins. Good size, 6'3" and 230 lbs. Sounds like a can't miss prospect.

Or what about the guy that went undefeated for North Dakota State while Wentz was injured. You know, the one that didn't lose any games while Wentz, the second coming, lost two. Maybe we should wait for that guy because he is better than Wentz.

The Eagles are going to have a quarter of their cap tied up in QB's that haven't proven anything. So I really am not that worried of them over the next couple years.

"Understand this -- just about every quarterback gets over-drafted. If Lynch is gone by 20, would the Cowboys be willing to trade up into the late first to secure either Cook or Hackenberg? Or how about trading up into the late second round to claim grab a Brissett or Prescott?" Rick Gosselin

The Rams and Eagles are over-drafting Goff and Wentz. They are not the best two players in this draft at all. So the OP's angst and distraught reaction is over the top. If they end up being franchise guys...great move for years. BUT if they are average or below average...uh oh franchise is set back for years. The gamble may be worth it but...
