I'd probably get a lot of downvotes for this thread if that were an option, but fortunately it isn't.

I'm as disappointed as anyone this season. I had completely retreated from sports years ago outside of Dallas Cowboys football and UNC Basketball, and was as hyped as anyone about this season only to be crushed like a clavicle in Week 2. While I don't think the Coryell system is as bad as some here, it definitely needs some "updating", and I thought Linehan was the guy to get it done. Maybe, maybe not, but I think judging the coaches based on super conservative playing with bad QBs is an incorrect approach to analysis.

Despite problems across the team this year, I believe they are all easily fixable in the offseason, and that the lack of a top 10 QB is being handwaved by the boobirds on the board. This D is young and hungry, and Marinelli has showed he is willing to dial up the pressure as he has confidence in both his players and the other side of the ball. Garrett and Linehan aren't BB, but no one else in the league is either. I believe we have the best we are going to get with Jerry alive, and that it's good enough to be commanding the division next year and into the future with Romo or an understudy in command. Of course, all of this is contingent on getting a legitimate understudy.

Some guys on here want to discount Garrett's non-gameday abilities. You can learn time management and you can tweak your Xs and Os. Organizational and motivational skills are nearly impossible to teach. Id rather have someone born with the latter.

I wonder if you'd have made the same post if the team was down 9 - 3 with Cassell still throwing picks, but I've got news, the sky done fell. The season is a wrap, even if the math says otherwise - for now.

I don't care about what non-Romo guy is throwing the ball right now. One season doesn't mean "sky falling" in the current situation. I'm looking at the O-line, the D-line, Byron Jones, etc. This season is a wrap, I'm not talking about it.

I'm not sure what you're defining as falling skies, that the team is doomed to suck forever and ever?

Yeah, like what certain boobird posters have suggested. That the entire team/coaching staff/FO sucks, we won't see a SB until the Jones' sell the team.

Yeah, I mean that kind of talk is nothing new. Personally, I understand their frustrations, since I agree things need to change but if anyone thinks the team is doomed until the team is owned by someone other than a Jones, they might as well root for another team.

The sky has already fallen on the season, and from a talent standpoint, the team is a long way from being compatible against elite organizations.

Take that as you will.

New flash OP, 4-10 is the definition of "sky has fallen".

To some it is. I don't care if we don't win another game this year. In fact, it's in the interest of the future of the club to keep barely losing. This is an early pre-season.

No, I'm not. The secondary is horrible; we have no idea what's going to happen at LB next year; the skill position talent is lackluster; and, the QB is old and brittle.

That's the reality right now.

The Qb is not any more brittle than any other QB. So backup Qb. The secondary isn't great but that's 3 positions to fill (OScan is back for the slot). couple WRs is 2 poz. So we need to fill 5 positions? Add a couple for LBs. 8 positions? That's one offseason.

I disagree about the talent.

The best teams in this league aren't even that talented.

It's all about coaching and QB play.

We have consistently had 50% of that.

You put Brady and Belichick on any NFL team and they are automatically a Super Bowl contender.

You put Romo on any of the top 10 worst NFL teams and he makes them at least a playoff contender without a decent coach.

Garrett is and has been the one holding us back. Not the talent. Dallas has talent.

They do. They already cheer for 13 different teams per year

The fact is, this team wasnt much better even when Romo was healthy. We barely beat a Giants team with a healthy Romo and should have lost that game. Screw this teams effort in 2015.

Three or four years ago, you were right. We had a franchise quarterback in the prime of his career, but Jerry decided to waste him on a coach who wasn't ready.

I don't disagree about Belichick. But I'm going to ask you what I asked all the Romo haters I ever ran into (which was of course every Cowboys fan until last season): Who is going to replace him (Garrett in this case)? Belichick isn't coming to Dallas. Cowher isn't coming out of retirement. Gruden is an idiot and not on the market. Everyone else is a retread or unproven. "Anyone" is not an answer, just like it wasn't for Romo. Like the Romo haters, you're a fool if you think "anyone" would be better able to deal with the spotlight of the Dallas Cowboys on top of the micromanagement of Jerrah and the demanding nature of HC in the NFL in general.
