it looked to me that the guy punched Romo first under (the facemask) then ripped off his helmet off...

It upset me that BIGG didn't try to beat the hell out of that DE.

But that was the smart route, I guess. We got 15 yards out of it.

Romo hurt?

Nah.

He came out all hyped up and instead of Garrett calling a couple flares to backs floating out of of the backfield we attacked downfield-- which obviously was a huge mistake.

The short routes were there-- but we kept going for the intermediate and deep routes... and with Romo floating his longer passes the result was shear ugliness.

Looked like his helmet was ripped off intentionally. That was no accident and the guy should be fined if its found to be deliberate.

As ugly as he started, he completed 11 of his final 14 passes and looked sharp doing it.

He gets major points for resilience, IMO.

He was just put in bad positions all night long. If the Bills are blanketing anything deep across the middle and the cornerbacks are playing man, then you hit them with the underneath routes and screens/flare routes. If they send 8 in the box, try a quick slant.

We should have used the exact same game plan from last week against the Rams. Sure, the offense might take a while to get rolling, but when they get in a groove they're unstoppable. All Romo has to do is not turn the ball over and give things time to develop. That's what's impressed me about Romo all year, especially against the Bears - he didn't force anything. Romo just seemed like he was trying to force too many plays.

The real cause for the Romo meltdown is the revelation of the secret 11 point plan given to him by Bill Parcells. How stupid could he be? You don't see Superman handing out Kryptonite recipes, do you?

The end is near.

he seemed a little woozy or something in the press after. He was either:

concussed
dazed from the experience
sick
drunk

Not sure which

I think in his post game interview immediately after the game, he was simply breathless and couldn't hardly believe the outcome of the game. He was working to hard (as was the whole team) to pull out a victory...

I think he was running on pure adrenalin and was just hyped up. $0.02

as it clearly appeared Brad Johnson was getting ready to come in the game at one point.

I'm embarrassed for the announcers and people who saw that and thought there was any chance Romo was being benched.

Anyone who knows anything about this team knows that Brad Johnson is the holder on field goal attempts. He put his helmet on in the second quarter because we were driving with no timeouts and he had to be ready to run in there after a spike and hold for a FG.... which he did at the end of the second quarter.

I can't believe the idiots calling the game didn't know that or spot the obvious reason for Johnson putting his helmet on.
_______

The reason for Romo's off game is two-fold: (1) the entire team looked past Buffalo which led to Romo's poor start; and (2) after the poor start and the shocking Kelsay play, he was just shell-shocked the rest of the game. It happens. But it was clear that everyone looked past Buffalo. At every aspect of the game, the team was off. That is a sign of lack of preparedness.

If Romo comes back and plays like we know he can against NE's defense, then this game can be written off as an aberration.

If Romo comes back and has another atrocious game, we may have a problem on our hands.

I'd bet dollars to doughnuts that it was an aberration.

He was jittery early, he was overthrowing badly early. He was hit a few times but this is the NFL. Drew Bledsoe was concussed in game he was pulled. Happens to QB's all the time. Bills also jumped a few of his throws as he was looking receivers down.

He had a bad game.

It's that simple - JMO

I would not be surprised if we hear something to the effect that Romo was shaken up or some such thing. However, I believe Nors has the right take. Many are fond of comparing Romo to Brett Favre. Well, now you see the downside of that kind of gunslinger mentality. The good news is that we won. This, IMO, was an excellent game for us and for Tony. Going into the New England game, I think it would have been bad to have Romo thinking he could do no wrong, which is what I believe the mind set was going into the Bills game. Well, a little bit of humility doesn't hurt anybody.

This reminds me of a story about my Brother and my Dad. When my Brother was about 18, he was pretty full of himself and he told my father that he didn't have to do what he was told. Went on to tell my Dad that he wasn't affraid of him. My Dad turned to my Brother and told him, very matter-of-factly that you didn't have to be scared to get your arse kicked.

Well, I imagine you can guess the rest. Point here is that it's not a bad thing to come back to the real world every once and awhile. QBs have bad games. Romo is not all world. He's a good young QB that can win a bunch of games if he plays within himself. The team is good enough to win games if Romo doesn't consistantly put them in a position to have to overcome bad plays. The team can make plays. That's what I hope comes out of last nights game.

When it's all said and done, the team stood by Romo and we pulled one out. It was the best win we have had in many years because the team won that game. Not the defense, not a QB, not any one single player. The team overcame obsticals and won out. They stuck together and that has not happened in a long time.

He was floating passes all night and IMO that was the problem. Obviously he "feel" was off because the floaters were short or over thrown. Conversely when he put some zip on the ball last night he looked fairly decent.

I thought that too. He really seemed kind of dazed, and I said that to my wife and brother. He just didn't look like he was really seeing things that well.

Of course, he did come back and get the team the points that mattered, so I'll take it.

Romo is 2nd in pass attempts, 1st in yards per attempt but 25th in completions. That means he is throwing deep quite often. His arm has to be getting tired. Throwing to the backs should give him a little rest and loosen things up when he does go deep.
