I know I'm a little late to the party, but this all has me a little confused and wary of what is to come.

So, we've hired JG as __________

The fact that we don't know what we've hired him as leads to so much instability it makes me dizzy.

Answer me these questions...

1) What does this say to Jason Garrett?? "We love you Jason, but we don't know if we want you to be the guy. We MAY want you to be the guy, but maybe not if someone better is out there." I'm sure he understands that he needs more experience, but for cryin out loud, Al Davis just hired a 31 year old QB coach from the college ranks as his HC. I know, we're not Oakland, but have some stones Jerry. If you like the guy that much, pull the trigger.

2) What HC candidate with any promise is going to want to come here, when it seems like it's going to be Garrett's show in a few years, if not now? The only thing that makes sense is if a "retread" comes in as a stall tactic. Any young, promising candidates are pretty much out of the question now. Ron Rivera... "you are an intriguing possibility, but we already have your OC in place, and he's going to be the HC in the future. You want this job now?"

Sorry for the rant, I'm just a little perplexed and wanted some answers.

I completely agree with #1. If Jerrah thinks the world of him, then why bother putting a stiff in his place. Everyone and their mother knows that Garrett is being groomed to be the future HC of this team, he wont be arround forever as a coordinator.

You seem to be obsessed with me being easy, cause all you do is follow me around nibbling on my rear end.

I hope we can get a guy like Rivera (although Phillips looks increasingly likely) but the only way I can see him coming here is if he is confident enough to believe he will have enough success that it would obviate any need to promote Garrett in his stead.

Following you around??

Don't flatter yourself...

You just happen to pop up everywhere I go in here, spewing some really ludicrous nonsense...

As for your being easy, that ain't my fault either... you just get your panties all in a wad whenever I point out that you're a dilettante, presuming to act as if your football knowledge is superior to Jerry's...

But if you think that feeble effort at reverse psychology is gonna get me off your case, you're deluding yourself...

And it's not flattering, it's more like having a gnat following you around.

Oh, so responding to a thread constitutes "following you around"...

ROTFLMAO... somebody seems to be a bit unclear as to how a message board works...

All you really need to know is none of your whining is gonna get me off your case... the only way you can get that done is to a) run, don't walk, from this argument, or b) pretend you've got some sense...

You're clearly a Randy Galloway wannabe, with all your "Jethro" cracks... problem is, you're not even as smart as that PITA is, and he ain't exactly the brightest bulb in the chandelier...

I said don't flatter YOURSELF... as in, don't assign yourself greater importance than you really have in my world...

Reading is fundamental, Jethro...

I can tell you that I'm pleased to know you find my attention so annoying... and two responses to the same post tells me I've got you REALLY bent out of shape... :D

Just cuz we don't know what position he was hired to fill doesn't mean HE doesn't know what position he was hired to fill. He knows exactly what he was hired for, and we'll likely find out tomorrow (later today actually).

Don't be absurd-- you're the Court Jester, aka Fool... a source of amusement, a way to pass some boring hours...

I'd say "pathetic" is not knowing the difference between "your" and "you're"...

Once again, your feeble attempts to employ reverse psychology on me won't work... it's been tried before, by a lot better than you... you're simply not in control in this situation, and you never will be...

You ain't smart enough OR tenacious enough to get over on your friendly local Bear in an online argument... I say this to you as a kindness, but of course you're gonna be too willfully obtuse to take that advice, as good as it is...

Well, with respect to your 2nd point, I think a coach like Phillips or D. Reeves would fit. I think Phillips is around 60, for example, and he probably has another 3-4 years left. Reeves also fits the profile of a coach who probably has a couple good seasons left in him.

The bigger problem would be hiring another young HC. But even then, let the best man win . . . . If the HC (i.e., Ryan or Rivera, for example) are absolute studs, great. If Garrett seems like he can do better down the line, that's fine as well. Who ever takes this job knows he has to produce quickly.

Again, Jerry Jones is not foolish. He is not going to automatically promote an inexperienced guy like JG to head coach without exhausting his other options first. This is why he hasn't just assigned JG to a position yet.

Jones is going to wait until after the Superbowl. He will make a play at Ron Rivera. Don't you think if wanted Wade Phillips, he would have already interviewed him and hired him by now. Phillips is an option but he will wait to interview Rivera. This is why Jones hasn't already interviewed Phillips.

You guys do not understand Jerry Jones. You guys are the same people who said Jerry would never hire a big name like Parcells. Trust me, Jerry isn't foolish. He wants a solid head coach and he knows Rivera is the only respectable option left.

james...I really want this to be true. If it is, it means Jerry has a plan and is executing that plan. If not.....then Jerrry is slipping back to his old ways, and that would not be good. We'll see.
