People been talking about Romo's december but what about this defense's december? they have 12 turnovers and 9 sacks in the last 4 games. They allowed only 16-46 on 3rd downs 34%. This defense has been amazing in every aspect the last 4 weeks. Since Marinelli decided to go more man coverage. The def isnt allowing them inside slants and crossing routes anymore. If youre 3rd and long aginst this defense now odds are youre going to punt.
Bruce Carter has come alive bigtime. He has been a nightmare for teams in the rungame and just seems to have found his legs in coverage. He just looks healthy. in the last 4 games he has 22 tackles 3 INT and 3 PD. Nobody has been able to run a screen on team in weeks and Carter is the main reason why. A big question looms for this team, do they resign Carter or Durant who just cant stay healthy. IMO they will command about the same type of deal. Durant was bad playing the SAM spot which he might have to play if the team resigns McClain because he isnt going to start over Lee at the WILL. I would use that money to pay Carter IMO. Since Hitchens can play all 3 spots incase of a injury. Unless Durant will take another million for another yr in Dallas. But i think he's earned some money with the yr he was having. I would resign Carter but then im biased as he's one of my favorite players.
Are the Cowboys playing the negative PR campaign on Dez? Trying to get teams to think about his worries off the field in letting that info about Dez leak in the article on Dallasnews this week? Or are there some genuine concern of some people in the organization that he might not be able to handle the money situation he's about to have? What i didnt like was the report Dez talking wreckless with reporters around saying "why are people not asking why they aint worried about Murray". If theres genuine concern i say just franchise him. At the end of the day Dez will only hurt himself and his pockets if he plays hardball with Jerry. He worth the money on the field no doubt. The guy has upped his game to another level when its counted the most this yr. But if that report is accurate on what he did this week in wreckless running of the mouth then maybe that report has credible concern. Its a shame that Dez still needs to have security around him all the time to keep him out of trouble. Wish the guy could see the bigger picture and go the route Tyron went. He isnt going to miss out on any guaranteed money with a lower SB because Dallas gurantees salaries. Which just lets them restructure. Think Dez is getting some bad advice.
The cowboys are milking Murray for everything they can this yr. I think its safe to say he wont be with the team next yr unless he he takes a 4mil a yr deal. You can see the wear on him. No burst what so ever in his runs. He can find the holes the OL is giving him but he isnt breaking anything. He's has an amazing yr and yr he carried alot of weight. He's not going to rush for 1800 yrds with another team. The Cowboys know this and dont think teams dont know the history of RBs that have gotten the work he has in a yr. Think when FA comes around and he doesnt get the money hes looking for he might sign back with Dallas.
TW and Beasley have come up and showed their face at the end of the yr too. TW i think it was just a matter of him getting healthy with his hand. I just dont think he could catch the ball with that finger. And Beasley i just think the team just started to call some plays that were isolated for him.
Dallas needs Free in the playoffs. Parnell cannot handle the blitz.
Jeremy Mincey has quietly had a very good season for this team. He's been stout against the run and has had 3 sacks in the last 3 games. He had 2 sacks today but only got credit for 1. RTs havent been able to block Spencer one on one in the past few weeks.
This secondary can cover man alot better then play the zone. Theyre physical off the snap and you can see that with these guys rerouting WRs throwing off timing with their QBs. Even Carr is playing better up on the WR instead being back in a zone. Sometimes coaches have too much pride to adjust something in their defense that just isnt right for the players they have. Im glad Marinelli didnt make the same mistake Kiffin did last yr in refusing to leave the zone.
Now its on the playoffs with this team playing its best football of the yr. Get on the Superbowl Wagon. Cause this team is marching.
