My thoughts on Carson Wentz

All the Wentz bashing is funny, but unwarranted I believe here is why.

1. The coaches don't seem to let him pass long. After seeing his pathetic receiving corps, I understand. Wentz had nine incomplete passes during the game. Six of those hit the hands of receivers and were dropped. The kid was slinging balls 70 yards in the air in camp before he was hurt. He has the arm. Peterson is taking a lot of heat today on the radio for this (and his stupid decision with six minutes left that basically gave us the game).

2. Speaking of arm, it looks like the Philly staff is making use on Wentz's extreme accuracy and cannonshot arm strength. Did you see how fast those passes got to the receivers? I love Dak, but anyone who thinks Dak has Wentz's arm strength is taking too much acid. He might have to learn some touch, as he appears to throw every ball like he wants to go through a wall with the pass.

3. While he can move, he's not Dak in the mobility department.

4. Wentz seems to have good awareness of what is happening on the field. Other than the near pick by Scandrick, he really didn't make any bad decisions with the ball.

5. His receivers, especially the overrated Ertz, don't know what YAC is.

With Dak, we bring a load of weapons that Wentz can only dream of. Now imagine Wentz with Maclin, McCoy, and D-Jax to go along with Sproles. I wonder if we win that game.

Thank you Chip Kelly for being a moron and stripping Philly of offensive talent.

Thankfully we don't have to do so much imagining to see Dak play well. He actually performs on the field.

More and more this is what the Wentz supporters are now leaning on- imagine if he had a supporting cast, imagine if the coaches unleashed that cannon, imagine if he had good receivers. If he's so damn good I shouldn't have to use my imagination so much. Truth is, he hasn't played all that well, especially the last 3-4 weeks.

He's got a cannon for an arm, but his throwing motion mechanics are iffy at best. Flares out the elbow too much and gets the right humerus parallel to the ground and it causes balls to sail on him and if his footwork isn't right, he'll throw it into the turf.

His receivers are average. Just doesn't have an upper tier receiver. Anybody claiming they never get separation deep isn't watching All-22. They do, he just doesn't anticipate well at all.

What stands out to me about Wentz and watching him on All-22 is that you can see where the lack of playing against defenses that play at top speed has hurt him and the Eagles made a mistake in starting him right away.

I think the coaching staff fell in love with his size and athleticism along with his ability to work a chalkboard. It's crazy that a player his size and with his athleticism and ability on a chalkboard went to North Dakota State. But there's a massive learning curve going from those type of defenses to the NFL.

On one of the first plays of the game he scrambled and got chased down by Hitchens. I'm certain he's never seen any LB in college that was that big and had that type of closing speed. And it's not like Hitchens is the second coming of Derrick Brooks.

You combine that with his throwing mechanics issues and still having to read NFL defenses, I think the Eagles made a major mistake playing him right away.

Wentz looks like a guy who could be like Tony or Cutler depending on his development. Right now, it's hard to tell because the Eagles are calling plays to prevent Wentz from becoming Jay Cutler.

Well then foot the movement to get new offensive corrodinator to call plays or strip the HC from doing it.

Nobody hates Wentz. The guy has talent. People just think it bizarre that some cowboys fans have some infatuation with the quarterback of a division rival when our own rookie quarterback is playing amazing ball. The infatuation is to such a point that people are making an attempt to downgrade their own quarterback and imagining how amazing Wentz would be here. Also, why does Wentz get all of the cowboys offense but we don't get their defense? Imagine the Cowboys with the Eagles defensive line. Imagine Dak with a defense to where he literally doesn't have to score to win the game against some of the better teams against the league.
