Does anyone think that Parcells called a ultra conservative game against the Lions to set the Bronco's up for some surprises? I think for one that we wanted to establish the run based off the Philly game to show that we could still as a team rush the ball effectivly...but more importantly to send smoke Denvers way. If you look at Shannahan and how he is a master of play-calling...maybe Parcells wanted them to have less plays or useful film to look at. I have to admit I was happy we won but very disappointed in how we played against Detroit. I believe we will see the same Cowboys that came out againt Philly when they were in Dallas. Quite frankly thats the team we are going to need to win tomorrow...THOUGHTS ANYONE....am I good or is this just my useless thoughts?????? GO BOYS!!!!!!!!!!!!

Let me just put it this way, I don't think any of our players are worn out. Sore, but not worn out.

I think Parcells was eager to get Julius Jones going and to establish the running game. And since it was working and the Lions kept self-destructing with stupid penalties, he just decided to keep pounding the ball and play it close to the vest. There was no need to get greedy and start airing it out all over the place.

I can almost guarantee that we will see the Cowboys come out attacking against the Broncos. The Broncos secondary is a liability this year, even with the overrated Champ Bailey back there. Broncos are very good at stopping the run, so we will pass to set up the run, much like we did vs. the Iggles at Texas Stadium.

P.S. Great post by the way!

Was the gameplan conservative? Yes, this is obviously true. However, I do not feel that Parcells' motivation was to send smoke Denver's way. 3 games in 11 days is a difficult stretch, and I think BP wanted to limit Bledsoe's throws this past Sunday to keep his arm fresh for Thursday. Also, running back by committee is a smart move to keep JJ fresh for the stretch run at the end of the season.

Regarding film on us, Shanny has lots of film to look at, including the first Philly game. This game will not be about smoke and mirrors, but it will focus heavily on execution...as all games do towards the end of the season.

Each win gets tougher and tougher as the season goes on. The opponent learns more and more about who they are playing against, and the types of plays they call.

I agree that the games get tougher and tougher....and as KJ19 said...that it makes us tougher as a team. Our schedule has been brutal this year but now down the stretch we are so used to playing tough games that it doesnt matter anymore...protection for bledsoe must be great tomorrow..but I have this funny feeling we are going to win...I think plummer will play like the old plummer in some aspects...lets all hope....PRAY EVERYONE

Well :welcome: ... and keep the posts coming.

And you know, I think regardless of the game plan for the Detroit game, it played out to our advantage. We did not give Denver much to look at because of the fact that we did run the ball so much.

So I do believe the Cowboys will open it up tomorrow and keep Denver constantly guessing. And I too believe the Cowboys will need to be just about as good as they were against the Iggles back at Texas Stadium to win this game. Denver is a good team and loves to get off to a fast start.

Here's hoping the Cowboys punch em' in the mouth early and often, and are victorious at the end of the day.

Parcells has said numerous times that field position and the game situation determine how "wide open" or "consrvative" the play calling will be. Believe it. It's that simple.

Good points! I have watched and rewatched every game this year, and the one thing I have noticed is that we do a good job of adjusting our defense to what the other team is doing. Our adjustments over the past 8 or 9 years were real poor on the defensive side of the ball. We are far better this year in that department. This is why I am not worried about Denver getting off to a fast start. I am confident that we can adjust accordingly.

Several examples include the Chargers game, Niners game, Raiders game, and second Philly game. We were falling behind in all of these games, and we came back to win all of them except the Raiders game (where we just fell short at the end).

We also do not abandon the running game even if we are behind. This is the stubborness inside of Parcells. He will stick with it to keep the defense honest, regardless of the score.

I don't think it was so much of a set-up, as it was to rest some players. By That, I mean I think he used the combo of JJ and MB more than usual. Giving them both rest, because of the 3 games in 11 days things and the short week.

I think we will see more of JJ this game than the last 2 games. Then 10 days rest and bang him against the Giants. more about conserving energy for the stretch run as opposed to game film. There is much of that from all season.

I'd like to think that Parcells is calling a conservative game to set up the next game. I mean, it's obvious to me that he only calls trick plays when he thinks the team really needs it. Unlike Marty Shottenheimer who calls for the Tomlinson pass when they are blowing teams out.

For the most part, I haven't had a problem with the playcalling until they get into the red zone. I don't think of Parcells as being too old school in almost every aspect of the game. But, when it comes to the red zone he just seems to think that "real teams score TD's by running the ball in the red zone" and meanwhile the rest of the league has teams that pass the ball in the red zone and score at will. And Dallas keeps running the ball and stumbling around.

Hopefully he will start passing the ball more in the red zone.

Did Parcells called a ultra conservative game against the Lions to set the Bronco's up for some surprises......yes...but that was not the only reason.

Parcells also wanted to work on execution in the running game. How well we run the ball could determine the outcome in our two remaining divisional games, Skins & Giants, which will be cold weather games in the frozen tundra.

I hope our O hits the field tomorrow hitting on all cylinders....running & passing...Put the Denver D on their heels and don't let up.

Just keep in mind that before our first game against Philly, we were debating the same thing... We were all disappointed at the play calling in Oakland, then the question came up about saving something for Philly. The concensus was that we weren't saving anything we just had a conservative game plan. Well, it's quite obvious we DID save something, something called a "passing game."

I agree with Cbz40. Parcells isn't that happy with the running game so far and he knows that when he goes to Washington and New York he must be able to run the ball. He coached long enough in the East and NE to know what will work best and what won't.

It is difficult to know what Parcells is thinking. He might be thinking a dozen plays later in the game and he might be trying to see what will work. Sometimes we over analyze Parcells and many times we underestimate him.

I think he had rather run the ball every play and win the game by 3 points than try to blow the game off the hinges. That is another reason when he wins he doesn't win by much and when he loses he doesn't lose by much -- most of the time.

In principle, I agree with you. We do tend to overanalyze BP, and Cbz could be correct in that BP is merely trying to establish the running game before cold weather games on the road are upon us.

Good QB or bad QB, we have to run the ball in December to play ball in January. BP knows Bledsoe's limitations better than Bledsoe himself, and I think he is shifting our playcalling a bit to focus more on the run. Having Bledsoe, or any other QB throw the ball 40 times a game is a recipe for disaster in cold weather games. Just ask Peyton Manning.
