4. Chad Jackson
The most impressive player overall at this event (College AllStar Challenge) was Florida WR Chad Jackson, who outshone Miami WR Sinorice Moss, Maryland TE Vernon Davis, and Memphis RB DeAngelo Williams.

Jackson appeared to be on a mission to get his draft status up, and if NFL teams put any stock in made for TV events such as this, he seems to have done just that. Jackson showed both speed and quickness, and perhaps most importantly looked very fluid in all of the drills. Jackson caught most of the balls over the course of the day away from his body and in his hands, something that most scouts are looking for.

During the route running drills, Jackson made sharp cuts around the obstacles and was able to keep his body moving forward while adjusting to the throws. In the receptions competition, where receivers catch balls launched rapid fire from four machines, Jackson obliterated the field with 27 catches in the 30-second time period. While it should be noted that Jackson went last and benefited from the best calibration of the machines, he drew oohs and ahhs from the crowd with a one handed catch during that event.

Draft followers will remember that Vikings WR Troy Williamson won the overall skills portion of the event last year, and was later tabbed with the 7th overall pick to replace Randy Moss in Minnesota. Incidentally, Williamson and Jackson have the same agent.

For critics who wonder about Jackson's yards per catch statistics, this reporter has seen many Florida games and feels that those statistics were a product of the system. Jackson's opportunities for big plays were severely limited by the "dink and dunk" offense, as his agent called it at the taping on Monday, and the quarterback's inability to complete passes downfield.

With many of this year's top receiver prospects measuring in less than 6 feet, Jackson has a significant advantage in not suffering from that affliction. If he runs the 40-yard dash in 4.3 seconds at the slow Combine track, as he claims he will do (see interview), there is a very good chance that he could be the first receiver taken off the board.

5. Marques Colston
He's a sleeper who showed up in the Hula Bowl. Big size, great hands, total package and can be had in the middle rounds.

Stovall looks kinda goofy to me. He had very poor hands at the Senior Bowl. No thanks.

What about that ASU WR? I think his name is Hagan?

Call me crazy but I like Greg Lee more than Holmes. I love the fact that he has dropped so far down in the draft. Lee is a good deep threat and has nice size.

I'm usually weary of Florida WR's coming into the NFL but I think Jackson has a chance to be pretty good. I doubt I would take him with the 18th pick however.

Goofy huh ? Well...I guess that's a good enough resaon not to like him . Hey , your not a Stovall fan , big deal . You are wrong about the Senior Bowl though . During the week of practices Stovall was the star and caught everything thrown at him . During the game he had one ball thrown about 20 feet over his head , and caught the only other pass thrown his direction . You could say he ran poor routes if you wanted , or that he couldn't get open , but to say he showed poor hands is incorrect .

Hagan's got size, but his hands are so inconsistent. He would catch 1 or 2 at the senior bowl then drop 4 or 5. I think he dropped himself out of the first round.

Maurice Stovall isn't in your top 5 ? I'd have him at least at #2 if not #1 .

He is good, but speed may be an issue...lack of it of course.

I like Moss 1st. The reason is his quickness & speed which are 2 different things. His quickness allows him to beat a CB initially and come out of breaks fast, and by being quick it allows him to get up to top speed in no time like Steve Smith and Santana..

And his strightline speed allows him to blow by people with ease. Jackson showed alot of that in the Senior Challenge as well.

His size is a problem when it comes to getting jammed or jump balls, but if he plays the slot, and comes in motion , it will be hard to jam him.

Chad Jackson will probably be the best of the bunch. Holmes isn't the playmaker T. Glenn is or was and while big brother Moss has over come his lack of size with his big playmaking ability, I just don't see Sinorice having the same kind of success at the next level.

The most WR at the top of this draft class wouldn't have been drafted in the 1st round of the '05 draft and for any team that's looking for a WR in this draft should probably wait until the bottom of the 2nd for the best value.

Have you seen these players play or are you going off of reports?

I'll say that Holmes and Jackson belong on most top 5 lists but look at the others.

Moss wasn't very productive in college, what makes you think that he'll suddenly increase that in the pros? Yes, he's quick and had a good Sr. Bowl practice, but why doesn't that translate to games.

Avant's slow and small, not traits one looks for in a possesion receiver, especially one with terrible hands.

Colston looked mediocre at best in his "all star" game.

terrible hands?

Avant has possibly the best hands in the draft.
And is no smaller than the leagues top WRs of today. (Harrison, Holt, Smith, Moss, Boldin, shall I continue?)

Yes, I have seen them all play.

I didn't say he sucked.
I said he looked goofy.
And if you watched the practices he was completely shut down by Tye Hill. He dropped just as many as he caught. He reminded me of a slightly better version of Todd Pinkston.

Found this at gbnreport.
On the other hand, Notre Dame WR Maurice Stovall had an up-and-down session, making a couple of good receptions, including one in traffic for a TB, however, he also dropped a couple of easy ones…

Calm yourself. I don't speak just to hear myself talk. And I have an eye for talent.
