I came up with this idea when re-reading Winky's thread, but that turned into a Jerry bash-fest so I had to start a new thread.

I do like the thought of getting Spencer, but I get the feeling if we took him at 22 it would be a reach. And we may not be able to trade down because of lack of willing partners.

So why not trade up... into the late 1st or early 2nd round? Then we could take WR/S/CB at 22 then take Spencer a little later... or vice versa if say, we took Spencer then assured ourselves of getting Sidney Rice.

It would be a lot cheaper in terms of draft picks, and considering we have 10 of them, we can afford it without giving up too much. From the value chart a move like that would cost us 500-700 points (700 getting you to 26 or so.) We would have to give up our 2nd rounder to move up, then a 3rd, and a 4th or 5th.

Just thought I'd throw it out there. Idea or no?

I still think #22 is just too high for Spencer. I'd rather us trade down into the late first, snag a 3rd rounder and package that with our second rounder to move up to the top of the second round if we wanted those guys.

I wouldn't be in the least bit surprised to see Rice available with our second round pick - you heard it here first.

I think he means trade up from our 2nd round into a position high enough to get someone like Spencer. We got a ton of extra draft picks that we don't really need so I expect some trading up to occur on day 1 no question about it.

that's the best trade proposal I've seen, and the one that is more likely to happen than trading down
