I don't really know why I'm posting this here. Maybe for support I don't know. My wife is out of town and I don't have anyone to talk to so here I am.

a little about my uncle.

Charles "Badboy" Smith
Was told he had cancer 3 weeks ago this coming tuesday.
Turned 62 two sundays ago.
Showed no signs of cancer untill he started having pain in his back about a week before he found out. I'm really thankfull he didn't suffer long. two and a half weeks is the quickest I've ever personally seen anyone pass from cancer from the time they find out till they are gone. Last tuesday his Dr told him he wouldn't make it two days. On thursday he was full of life singing, (couldn't dance the cancer has eaten thru his spine) joking, refusing pain meds, laughing. He said he got to tell everyone bye and he loved them and he was ready to go. on Friday he was still doing well. Saturday afternoon his heart rate sped up and he was not able to stay awake. Today he went in peace around 2pm est.

Has 3 children 10 grand kids, had 10 sisters and 5 brothers. My dad is the oldest boy and He's not taking it good at all. I can't stand hearing him cry. this is only the second time in my life I've heard it once when his Dad passed and now. He doesn't have a strong heart I just hope he's strong enough. I'm leaving for the funeral in Chattanooga Tn on tuesday.

Seeing this happen really puts life in perspective.

Sorry to dump my woes on you guys but thanks for letting me express myself here.

It truly does put life in perspective. Sometimes you wonder what's harder, finiding out you have cancer and weeks to live, or finding out you have months to live...I think if I were him I would have preferred to know later rather then sooner...but for family members like you it must seem so sudden and hard to swallow.

Take care and I'm sorry. You just have to hope he's in a better place right now. Is his wife still living?

Sorry about your loss.

I think it's always helpful to come here and post such things because we are all going to deal with this in our lives. It's helpful to see how others cope.

AND..it's also a nice tribute to your uncle, who seems like he was a special character.

jk,
I am deeply sorry for your loss. He sounds like he was a special person not just to you, but to the whole family.
I know this isn't easy to hear at a time like this, but it sounds like he was ready. That should make you and your family feel a little better for his sake. I mean, he got to say his goodbyes to the ones that meant the most to him. You can't ask for more than that.
Be there for your Dad and the family, but don't forget to be there for yourself. Cry if you need to. Nothing wrong with that.
Again, I am sorry for your loss.
You and your family are in our thoughts and our prayers.

Sorry for your loss, best wishes to you and your family through this tough time. Nothing but time makes the pain go away but sometimes it is good to talk about it.

Very sorry to hear about your loss but he was blessed not to suffer through months and years of cancer treatment. I've seen two grandparents waste away in hospitals during cancer treatments.

Jack, sorry for your loss. I know what you mean about not knowing why you're posting something but doing it anyway. It's just an outlet. We all need them from time to time. It's your turn. Condolences.

cancer is a horrible disease.

my wife works as a nurse in a nursing home and has treated and held many a hand of cancer patients as they breathe their last breath. i don't know how she does it.
