My Young - Aikman thoughts

In 1989 I watched every game Troy Aikman played in (as did most of you). I saw him struggle, take sacks that he wouldn't take in his veteran years (because he learned to get rid of the ball), run when he should have passed, and throw twice as many interceptions as TD's. But I'm telling you that I knew from day 1 that he had that "something" that would eventually be proven out over his career.

I watched Vince Young today and I saw the exact same thing. The leadership, the poise, the shining plays amidst the bad plays. I think the Titans will one day be very very happy that they took Vince Young and I think it will be sooner than later. VY is a player.

I completely agree with you on Aikman > Steve Young, and while Vince Young hasn't even started his career yet, Aikman will probably outshine him too. But the intangibles are what I'm talking about at the moment. I just think Vince Young has "it" and not many come along who do. Only time will tell if I'm right or not (and a boat load of others who believe in him), but I really think the kid is going to make it big in the NFL before it is all said and done.

I have said before draft and believe even more now that Vince will be a special player. But also I thought he should sit for a year or two before playing. I guess we will have to wait and see if not sitting him more wasn't a better idea or not.

It would've been nice to see what VY does when he has some pressure on him. Our pass rush was lacking today. But what's new.

Actually you'll never know. If he does fail it doesn't mean he would've succeeded had he sat.

Yeah, you never know. But coming from where he was, I would his chances of success are pretty high. He has that IT feel to him. I.e. Leadership, Poise, command and the intagibles. What he doesn't yet have is the machanics and knowledge of offense etc. So he would be far better off if he sat and learned that instead of being put into commision right now.

But with his mentality or rather his mental makeup his chances of success are pretty high vs failure.
