Myles Jack has no regrets about leaving UCLA, sets sights on NFL combine

Former UCLA linebacker Myles Jack’s decision to declare for the draft in October, following a knee injury expected to keep him sidelined for the rest of the season, was made with a single-minded focus: readying himself for the NFL.

Once he knew he wasn’t going to play, any tangible value he offered the Bruins from a win-loss standpoint was largely nonexistent. If he knew he was leaving, why stick around? So he didn’t.

In early November, about a month after undergoing surgery to repair a torn meniscus, Jack moved to Arizona, where he began a six-days-a-week rehabilitation process at the Fischer Institute of Physical Therapy and Performance. Free from the responsibilities of a college student, Jack worked out twice a day and entered into a regimented diet that cut out all sugarconsumption. After a few weeks at the facility, Jack resumed running. He should not have any limitations at next month's NFL combine.

The attention he received from a rehabilitation and dietary standpoint validated the decision to leave UCLA when he did, but Jack said he still tried to stay engaged with the team during the season.

I think Jack will end up being the 4th pick. Guy is going to blow the roof off the combine. And alot of players doing commentary now feel the same way about him. Wouldnt even count out SD taking him at 3.

I think Jack is going to be a serious play maker!

preach it. IMO he'd make the most impact on this team at 4 than any player. Except maybe QB but thats down the line. Jack a impact player in 2016. Dallas wanted Seau i think its going to end up with Jack being that player they wanted in Seau

Just don't see where he would fit. We already have a play maker at WLB. He's not really big enough nor is the middle of our d-line big enough for him to play MLB in our defense.

Jack is a "Football Player" point blank period... he can play any of those LB positions and teams pass way more than they run these days except for handful of teams in the leagueand he can grow into his body and still develop... and if our rb get hurt he can prolly close out games in 4th qtr or even goaline

Welp, Lee and McClain are about as reliable as a family sedan with 400,000 miles on it.

Love this player.

If we aren't selecting a QB and decide to pick Jacks in the 1st and then shore up the DL with Billings in the 2nd, I will be ecstatic. Big athletic DT to free up Jacks and Lee flying to the ball will improve both run and pass D.

I just do not know if he is that cerebral MLB who would be that kind of special fit. He definitely has the coverage range for the deep middle and has the athletic ability.

I do not have a good grasp of what he was asked to do at UCLA yet.

The comparison to Shaq Thompson made in the article seems to fit the best at the moment. That is a good LBer but fourth overall? Not sure about that.

If they believe he can play MLB and cover receivers in the slot, I think Jack is the most likely non-QB to be taken at 4.

That would be amazing getting both of them. Suddenly the defence is fast as feic.

Yes, but for the 4th choice, optimally you would want someone capable of taking the ball and running with it, ala Kuechly did from day one.

It is nice that Lee could tutor and continue to be the brains, but invariably he is hurt at some point and likely is not even in the NFL by the time this player is close to finishing his rookie contract.

I guess I just need convincing at this point.

I Think Jack is a natural football player and will get it day 1 .

Only if we trade down . Don't want him at 4.

Goff
Lynch
Bosa
Treadwell

Or trade down . There is a talent drop off after those 4 players .The good news is one of those will be there @ 4.

Jack is a play maker, can play ALL three LB positions.

He has elite coverage skills and plays the run well, true athlete and football player.

I haven't seen much of him, but the times I have he looked to be built more like a safety.

He's this years version of the guy the panthers drafted last season (in the 1st) AND he's coming off a torn ACL!!!! At 4 it would be insane for an undersized player. His instincts are great but not worthy of top 4.

Not an ACL. Meniscus. Very different.

If we took him and he had a season like Shaq this year, people would be on suicide watch. From watching them I think Jack is better.
