Charlie Waters on Romo's pinkie
By Tom Osbornon December 9, 2008 3:44 PM | Permalink | Comments (0)
Former Cowboys defensive back Charlie Waters offered an interesting take Monday on why Tony Romo was so erratic throwing the ball against Pittsburgh.
Waters told Paul Alexander of ESPN 1250 "The Zone" he noticed Romo had a short throwing motion against the Steelers, in other words he wasn't following through. Waters said the reason obviously has to be fears of banging his fractured right pinkie against another helmet, which is how it got hurt in the first place. That's why so many of Romo's passes sailed high, Waters said.
Romo connected on just 19 of 36 passes for 210 yards with one TD and three interceptions against the NFL's top-ranked defense. His passer rating was a dismal 44.9.
