Monday is Desperation Day for Dallas, Carolina

Don't think so? Check this out:

"Obviously with the situation they're in and we're in, we both need this game very badly," said Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo, who has received most of the blame for his team's 1-1 start.

"You're going to find two teams fighting and giving it everything they've got ...It's one of those games that's very important to both franchises. We understand that and I think Carolina does as well."

Indeed, Panthers middle linebacker Jon Beason said it's an understatement to call the game "vital" to his team's hopes of repeating as NFC South champs.

"Hey, 0-3 is not a possibility," Beason told Carolinagrowl.com. "This is a must-win."

Signs point to a tight game

What's happened so far this season on Monday Night Football suggests the Cowboys and Panthers will go down to the wire.

The first three MNF games of 2009 have been decided by a total of nine points, the smallest combined margin of victory for the first three MNF games in a season.

The history of the Cowboys-Panthers series also points to a nail-biter. Eight of the 10 games between the clubs have been decided by 10 points or less. Four of those games were decided by less than a touchdown.

Las Vegas oddsmakers have established the Cowboys as a 9-point favorite.

Well I played a preview game on Madden last night, and Dallas was down 21-7 going into the 4th quarter, but made a comeback in OT and won 24-21

I'll tell you what, the Steeler fans that I work with were somewhat in a state of shock. You could just feel it. Not much talk goin on now... especially since they are 1-2.

I think what frustrates me most about these Cowboys is the fact that over the past 3 years we have had the talent to beat all of those Superbowl teams . We just have something missing on this team in the coaching or character front and it is so frustrating to see these opportunities go by the wayside. You just don't get them that often and when you throw them away year after year it is disheartening.

Okay,

Tony isn't my favorite guy or anything, he is the best Dallas has right now. BUT..

To put most of the blame on him for this team being 1-1? No way.

That poor excuse of a defense has to cough up some of that bark too.

0 sacks in 2 games,
0 TAKEAWAYS in 2 games.

Dallas 34, Carolina 30.

I think we're much better than them, but we don't seem so determined not to let the other team score.

"blame for a 1-1 start". Since when is 1-1 worthy of "blame." That just doesn't sound right. 1-1 is like the second best record in the league possible after 2 game.

:starspin I think one of the key elements that has been missing for us so far is the lack of pressure/pass rush. Without that, it's going to be a long season for us. Tonight is when we need to take out all the stops and play lights out...for all 4 quarters.

I agree, but the phrasing of that made me laugh.

Our defense blows...ranked 32 in the league....Carolina offensive woes will be over tonight as they score in the upper 20's. I believe the Cowboys will win, but not because of our defense.

I look for another good game by our offense and special teams. We should be able to run the ball on Carolina -- may get 200 yards on the ground tonight (100 each for Jones and Choice).

Cowboys 34
Panthers 27

Well, at least they still have the Super Bowl from last year to ease their pain
