It is my opinion that the NFL is rigged to some extent. Outcomes are decided beforehand to create desirable story lines that turn profits for the league.

I made about 3k testing this theory last season in the playoffs. I only lost in one playoff game. And in that game I picked the right winner just didn't cover the spread.

I also predicted the Super Bowl contestants and winner a month before. And also predicted the Super Bowl MVP.

So either I was lucky or there's something going on.

I know it's a controversial subject but I'm curious to hear others point of view.

So since it's in the past, what were your justifications for each playoff game? I'll give you the NFL wanting Peyton to ride off into the sunset. Everybody had that on their minds. But what about the other 11 teams?

I always say if the NFL is fixed, why havent we been to a SB in 20 yrs? every SB we're in would break the previous record for ratings......and especially another Cowboys-Stealers SB? Cmon, the NFL cant wait for that to happen again......if the NFL is fixed we would have been to at least 5 more SB's in the last 20 years, even if they had us losing in all of em.....

You predicted both #1 seeds would be in the SB? Impressive.

You also predicted the teams with the worst records in the playoffs would lose and the higher seed would win the remaining games except Seattle beating Min who they destroyed earlier. Good job.

There are too many variables to explain each game. But I believe money, and story lines are the most obvious.

Just like I predicted the Broncos would win and Von Miller would win MVP like everyone else also thought would happen.

I had posted a threat on this subject a while back.
The Cowboys are one of the highest viewed teams in the league. They get the most ratings cause they have a lot of fans and haters as well that tune in to see them.

But you have to put yourself in the shoes of an NFL team owner. Cowboys are the only NFL team that does not share profits of merchandise sales with the rest of the league. This happened after Jerry Jones won a law suite back in 95 that gave him the rights to market the Cowboys himself. Jerry gets to keep 100% of sales for himself while the rest of the league splits merchandise profits amongst themselves. So low market teams like the Jaguars benefit from the succes of teams like the Patriots.

So as an NFL owner you do not profit by having the Cowboys in a Super Bowl because in that aspect.

There's a lot more details but I don't want to
write a huge post.

Certainly not going out on a huge limb. Though for"stoeylines" sake, you'd think Manning would be MVP.

The story line was for Manning to sail off in to the sunset.

Everyone was betting Manning or Cam would win the MVP. The casinos took all those peoples money instead.

For all the conspiracy nutters, no the NFL is not rigged. Not unless those are actually holograms and not players on the field or they got the collective Las Vegas and Broadway show and play personnel to choreograph all the moves and things that happen. Oh no now I gave them some ideas to mull through.

I see refs keeping games close early on in games that otherwise could easily lead to blowouts (even then they are discretional calls like holding and PI)...that could be an unsaid understanding to ensure we don't have College scoring where TV audiences tune off, etc. But there are too many variables to "rig it rig it" in relation to gambling. Maybe "keep it close" is more the mantra taken by NFL refs;) But if the NFL did what they do in the 1st Q throughout the whole game, that would be caught on and not explained away due to Ref discretion, etc.

Multi billion dollar industry = part time refs:D.

Really just think the owners are fat and happy for the most part and the only thing that would cause this type corruption is excessive greed; not unheard of but if legally investigated would ruin the whole party (for all owners/related interests).

At the end of the day it's a business and the NFL will not leave things up to chance. No smart business man would. They're in the business of entertaining and they do a great job at it.

Refs do play a big role like you mentioned in keeping games close. If we where to see blow outs most of the time people would tune away and go mow their lawns instead, this is why around 80% of prime time games will mostly always end up with in a scoring drive.
For example a team needs a TD or a fieldgoal to win or tie in the 4th with seconds left. Keeping people glued to their seats till the last second.

Strange that Vegas had Broncos at +2.5 underdogs and they won 21 to 20.

So even if Carolina would have scored the fieldgoal. Denver would have stilled covere by .5 points.

Weird how Vegas conveniently comes up on top.

The NFL would explode if the Cowboys played the Patriots in the Super Bowl. The popularity of both teams would yield the largest viewing audience ever for the event. If anything, the NFL would have incentive to help make that happen, not prevent it.

True but the Cowboys have a huge generation of fans. Fans that are Cowboy fans because their dad or grandad was a fan so therefore they are fans. The Patriots are the same. In the last decade their fan base grew. And now you're seeing the same trend as the Cowboys.

So it would make sense for the NFL to start doing the same with lower marker teams. Get them a championship and start building up the fan base. Because the big market team will always have fans no matter what.

For example the Seahawks did not have a huge following, now in days you see their fans coming out of nowhere.

While we're at it, here are my predictions for Super Bowl 51:

In the NFC I think it's gonna be the Vikings or I hate to say it but the Giants

In the AFC I think the Colts or the Steelers.

But I'm yet to see a regular season game other then Thursday's Broncos Panthers. So once the season gets rolling well see how the stories unfold.
