I know this isn't football but its a trend and something the NFL will have to avoid. It appears now the NHL was just the start.

League says players' union backtracked during talks
Associated Press

NEW YORK -- Labor talks between the NBA and the players' union broke off Wednesday, increasing the chance of a lockout starting in the offseason.

In a statement, the NBA accused the union of backtracking on several items that the sides had agreed upon. The collective bargaining agreement expires on June 30.

"Since we are at a loss as to how we can possibly reach a new deal that is in any way consistent with the principal terms that we have been discussing for many months, there are no further meetings scheduled at this time," deputy commissioner Russ Granik said.

The union did not immediately respond.

If no new agreement is reached, a lockout could begin as early as July 1 -- three days after the draft.

It is a trend in sports and this emphasizes, while the NFL isn't a Utopia, it's easily the best managed sports enterprise in the US at least. (I don't know enough about the global Soccer biz to speak of it). The NFL and the Players union seemed to have learned their lesson well since 1987.

What is this article doing in here? Not trying to be a d***, but what does this have to do with the Cowboys, or the NFL? :banghead:

The Players Union is weak and was demolished back in 2000. Methinks this is really the Agents vs. Owners, after the last deal many players dumped their agents and either negotiated the deals themselves or used an attorney (Ray Allen was the most notable, his recent deal was negotiated by Johnny Cochran). Agents lost a ton of $$$ in this past deal and no doubt they want it back.

I hope this doesn't get ugly, NHL has ruined itself, heck look at baseball and their 94 strike. It took them 4 years to recover and could have been the main reason why they didn't strike in 02.....

I just hope we the NFL get our CBA done this year so it doesn't go down to the wire like the NBA, NHL, and MLB. the NHL is setting a bad trend in pro sports and it hurts the Fans more than anyone. IMO
