*Over on pigskintexas.com, ol' buddy Wally Lynn of ESPN Radio says the Cowboys laid off half their sales staff (about 20 folks) this week despite selling 87 percent of the tickets to Jonestown Coliseum.

I want the Stadium to be name after Tom Landry. I really hate the corporate names to these stadiums. To me it takes the historic value away from the stadiums.

Well the 87% number is probably what got them laid off. One would have to question the need for a large sales staff when 2/3 of the product is sold.

I feel for sales and marketing folks during this time, tho.

In my opinion FedEx Field is too big - there are too many fairweather fans who own tickets and treat the game like it's just a way to kill some time on Sundays. Considering that Jerry hasn't even sold out the stadium yet, that could become a problem for you guys too. It's crazy that there isn't a waiting list for tickets. Maybe he's pricing out the regular fans.

there wasnt even waiting list for texas stadium.

THis market doesnt have the crazy sports fanatic atmosphere.

For instance when the ratings for the superbowl came out the top 50 cities were listed and dallas didnt even register in the top 50 cities in the country.

People here prefer to stay home and watch football. I dont know why, I dont get it. I moved here to be a season ticket holder.

The crowds at the stadium have been very good since 05 though. And I bet next year the crowds are great as long as the team is healthy and doesnt tank early on.

As disenchanted as people are right now, if they dont get off to a great start that place will be a morgue by the end of October. People are going to really lay into Jones and the 'Boys at home in 2009 if they even remotely sniff mediocrity.
