Yup. I foresee that too.

In a few years we'll be complaining about cap hits, and dead money, but hopefully we'll be talking about the championships it won us.

In a few years the majority of this team will barely be coming to the end of their rookie contracts. And will have other players on rookie contracts. The difference between now and then is the draft picks are playing, theyre starting. Dallas is barely starting to turn it around and people are already talking about the downfall? Can fans just enoy the ride?

If the cap keeps going up of course, the dead money becomes less of an issue percentage wise at least.

If the cap is at 145m this year that is already a 20% increase from 2011 when it was 120m coming out of the lockout

Even at a 3% annual increase that would be significant:

149.4m 154.0m 158.7m 163.5m 168.5m

I love this new Jerry.. he's making and saying all the right moves. He knows it's time to turn this franchise around. Not firing garrett and keeping this cohesive coaching staff together is a huge deal. Lets players know the coaches are to be respected. . Good old fashion football. Love it.

Thats how I feel too. Watching this season, after watching the last 10-15 years or so, was sooo good.

It was one of my favorite seasons of all - time, And I am in my mid 40s. I remember Roger, Danny , dorsett, newhouse, springs, pearson, too - tall, harvey martin, everson, white etc etc,

old fashioned tough football....

Next years will be a whole new set of challenges.... The schedule will be harder, possible injuries, etc, etc... we might not end up 12-4. It will be a fight for sure.

But, I think this thing is building, And even though Romo is an older QB, i feel like they are just getting started,,,,,, I see the Cowboys in the playoffs, with a real chance at a SB.....

year to year. but there is "something" to this team.... i credit Garrett, coordinators, more then anybody else.... whatever they are doing. they need to keep doing it...:)

Cant wait for next season.,

After cleaning up the salary cap mess the last few years it's hard to see Garrett and the rest of the FO going along with this.

Thats the thing. This isnt the past. Dallas has 4 players right now that make over 4mil a yr. Dallas is getting over that bad period. It really looks worse then it is. Dallas is getting over the dead money period this yr. Dallas is on schedule to be 50mil under the cap in 2016. Thats even with Romos insane deal.

It's only 3 if you don't count Carr or Melton. There is plenty of money to sign players, but they should max out the cap just to keep all their options since they are back to being contenders. Once the season starts it a lot harder to create cap space if it is needed for trades or injuries.

Tony by my estimation has good 2 seasons left on that body. The NFC is hella physical.

If he doesn't quit taking sacks like he did the last few games he won't last. Got to get the ball out of your hand Tony. Live for another play. Quit trying to be Superman. Remember your backup sucks.

You have one example, I have one. We'll see if this off-season is the tie breaker. I'm not a JJ fan, so I hope Garrett and crew can keep him in line.

The difference being we signed TO with the old school thinking where we passed on JF with the new school thinking.

Good point. But with JJ and his memory, he may not recall which "school" he is in. See Mo Claiborne trade..ha, ha.

Again, Mo was during the old school ways. Accept the fact there has been a change in philosophy and Jerry doesn't always get what Jerry wants.

Mo was only 3 years ago. I think we have to see more than 2 drafts before we can say JJ has changed. I'm sure most folks were saying the same thing after the Dez and Tyron drafts....but then we had 2012 and Mo. Now we have had 2 good drafts, hope it's not a pattern. I'm not saying he has or has not changed, I hope beyond hope he has....but I doubt anyone would say 100% he won't go back to being "old school Jerry". We'll see come April 30th
