Dallas Mayor Places Bet On Philly Game
BY Scott Crisp // 3 minutes ago

Dallas Mayor Tom Leppert has entered into a wager with his Philly counterpart, Mayor Michael A. Nutter, as to who will win Saturday night's wild card game between the Eagles and the Cowboys.

If the Cowboys win, the Liberty Bell will be taken out of its display in the City of Brotherly Love, moved to Dallas and placed in the center of Victory Park; if Philadelphia wins, the mayors' office will receive full ownership of the Jonas Brothers, who currently live in the Dallas-area. Okay, these aren't really the stakes; we just wish they were.

The real bet, as worded in a press release from Mayor Leppert's office: "The losing team's mayor will provide lunch for the winning mayor's team of Habitat for Humanity volunteers. Both mayors already volunteer for Habitat and are longtime supporters of the not-for-profit organization."

If Leppert wins, his team will receive Philly cheesesteaks and TastyKakes; if Nutter wins, his team will receive barbecue from Sonny Bryan's and Dr. Pepper.

"After watching the Cowboys play the last few games, I'm very confident we'll be keeping our delicious barbecue right here in Dallas," said Mayor Leppert. "I'm sure our Dallas Habitat will be pleased to get Michael's tasty contribution. I can taste those Philly cheesesteaks now!"

Taking a page from DeSean Jackson, Nutter has not been dissuaded by Dallas's win over Philly last week.

"Having lulled the Cowboys into a false sense of security, the Eagles will come out and dominate the Cowboys in a game that actually matters," said Mayor Nutter. "We will make sure there is an extra seat on the plane back to Philly for barbecue and Dr. Pepper."

Even their mayor is getting into it.

For a playoff game? I don't remember these kinds of things being done unless it was a big game...IE Superbowl, World Series...

Dallas Mayor is getting the short end of the stick. When I was up in Philly and had a Philly Cheese streak sandwich I was disappointed it tasted bad. Folks there do not know how to cook and have no clue as to what good food is.

Interesting.. I've enjoyed all of my cheese steaks I've had from there.

I do think they could season it some more. That's the Texan in me. I love spicy food.

I remember the last time a Dallas mayor waged a bet. The Mavs lost.

You must have gone to a sub-par joint ...

and you are 100% incorrect about the people here not knowing how to cook or what good food is ...

If you're ever in town, let me know and I'll make sure you experience the right venues.

Is that not an appropriate name for the Mayor of Philly?

That may have been it. What can I say anytime I leave Texas I can't wait to get back to have a good meal. :laugh2:

Outside of a very few states do people know what real Chicken Fried Steak with milk cream gravy really is? Stuff they tend to serve I would not feed to my dog :laugh2:

And lets not forget TexMex no one does it better than us.

Call me paranoid, but I have a fundamental problem with excepting food as payment on a bet from people I'm sure are fairly angry with me.

Maybe Nutter will have Spadaro deliver the cheesesteaks in person!:lmao2:

These mayoral bets are lame.

And Cowpoke has a good point. I wonder how the Arlington mayor feels?
