Every Tuesday during the season, we’ll scout out the Cowboys next opponent. This week, that opponent is the Tampa Bay Bucs.

The Opponent: The Buccaneers, aka the Bucs, aka the ---s.

Wait a second? Did Martellus Bennett cal them the ---s on his Twitter feed? Oh, yes.

Oh, no he di-in’t! Oh, yes he di-id.

The Coach: Raheem Morris, aka Radio. Morris is a complete unknown as far as head coaches go. He could be the next Mike Tomlin. Or he could be the next Rod Rust. There’s no way to know. But one thing’s for certain: he’s already a better coach than Wade Phillips.

The Offense: The Bucs, for now, will be led by Byron Leftwich at QB, who beat out Luke McCown for the starting gig. McCown was subsequently traded to Jacksonville. Rookie first-rounder Josh Freeman will be the backup, and will probably unseat Leftwich by mid-season. For now, DeMarcus Ware and company get to feast on Leftwich and his not-so-dangerous sub-8.0 speed. Ware needs to beat left tackle Donald Penn and get Leftwich often. Because, given time, Leftwich is more than capable of getting the ball downfield to Kellen Winslow and Antonio Bryant, who likely WILL play in this game, despite a knee injury. Only four tackles gave up more sacks last year than Penn, so that bodes well.

At running back, Cadillac Williams will start for Tampa, and will split carries with free agent Derrick Ward and Earnest Graham. Williams will get two series, then Ward gets the next two, then Graham gets the next one. Is this team fantasy death? Oh, yes. Yes, indeed.

The Defense: The Bucs are in the midst of an overhaul on D, getting rid of future Hall of Famer Derrick Brooks and relying on younger guys like Gaines Adams and Aqib “Cabbie Puncher” Talib to serve as the foundation of the team’s next great defensive era. For now, their best player on D is linebacker Barrett Ruud. Look for him to shadow Felix Jones and Marion Barber whenever they go out to catch a pass.

The Line: Cowboys by 2 1/2

The Danger: It’s tempting for the Cowboys to look ahead to the opening of JerryWorld against the Giants on Sept. 20. Most people agree the Bucs are retooling and will struggle to finish the year out of the NFC South basement.

But I think we can all agree this Cowboys outfit has no business at all overlooking any opponent it plays. Perception may tell you the Bucs are an easy opener. They are not. Both these teams went 9-7 last year. And the Bucs, unlike the Cowboys, outscored their opponents over the course of 16 games last season. Throw in the fact that this is a road game (They have cannons!), and it’s clear this one won’t be easy.

What moron wrote this?

One thing is clear, he sure seems to know a lot about the Bucs and not much at all about the Cowboys.

Calling Coach Morris "Radio" is pretty offensive, in my opinion, and I'm a Cowboys fan.

DREW MAGARY

Co-founder of Kissing Suzy Kolber, columnist for ********, and author of Men With Balls, now in bookstores.
IOW, another internet comedian who doesn't know or even much care about the actual game. Not sure why NBC 5 would pick him up, but I guess he was cheap.

Any road game is tough , but Any offense with Leftwich as QB and no viable receiving options (injured A.Bryant ) the Boys D should be able to handle. Also the Bucs D is not the vaunted D they had in superbowl winning year , it has steadily gone down. If our team can't handle this team I would be surprised .

Any clown with a blog I guess.

Terrible article aside, I expect the Bucs to try to come out and grind the Cowboys with the running game and take a few shots deep if they can isolate Jenkins (since he's the unproven starter at this point).

If the Cowboys can stifle Tampa's run game, this game should not be a problem.

We're in for a long season if it is.

Sep 07, 2009 - When the Tampa Bay Buccaneers signed coveted free agent running back Derrick Ward in March and gave incumbent starter Earnest Graham a clean bill of health, it was clear the team wanted to have at least at two-headed rushing attack.

The question mark at the time was Cadillac Williams, the fifth-year back who had missed 23 games over the previous two seasons due to a pair of serious knee injuries. Would he be able to contribute to the rushing attack, and to what degree? Would he even be ready to play when the 2009 season began?

Well, Williams is indeed ready as the Buccaneers prepare for their season opener against Dallas, and if the team's new depth chart is any indication, he's definitely going to make the Bucs' rushing attack a three-pronged attack.

In fact, Williams is listed as starter on the Bucs' first regular-season depth chart of 2009, which was released on Monday. Tampa Bay will open its season at home against the Cowboys this Sunday, September 13.

Totally agree. I think that's exactly what they'll try to do -- run it on us and keep the ball from our offense. They know as well as we do that we have a great pass rush and their QB is a statue.

Add in the prospects of a wet, sloppy field, and I think they'd be even more inclined to run the ball.

If they can't run it on us, we should win.

And really, even if they are able to run it a little, our O should still be able to work their defense. Jim Bates has had lousy defenses the last few places he's been.

Raheem (Radio) Morris has the mentality of his nickname firing his OC a week before the season.
