I posted this quite a few times in the past. I also just posted this in another thread, but felt it needs a thread of it's own

I never give up on a team of sitting at 3-7.
In 1989, we went 1-15, in 1990 we weren't supposed to be much better, record wise. So we sat on a 3-7 record, everyone thought, they are out of it. We reel off 4 wins to get to 7-7.

We go to Philly, needing 1 win to clinch a playoff spot. We were playing well, until as usual one of our division rivals knocked out QB our of the game. Aikman out, Laufenberg in. We lose.
So we go to Atlanta, a bad team...Laufenberg can't get us that win, he was horrible. We are at 7-9.....but...

Rams and Saints play on Monday night, if Rams win, we get in at 7-9....Morten Anderson, all universe K, lines up to kick the game winning FG....automatic...he misses, but damn, Rams offsides, and he makes the next attempt. We are out and Saints are in at 8-8.

Thing was also, if we would have made the playoffs, we would have been at Chicago in the playoffs, with Aikman back, and Playing a very banged up Bears team.

The one thing about those 8-8 years that the media always seems to forget when chastising the Cowboys over it was that the Cowboys were not a good team during those years. Even if they had gotten into the playoffs, they were not going anywhere. We were always limping at the end of the season.

The optimism, for those capable of it, that we can have this year is the NFC East is really not a good division and hopefully, we'll be a full strength toward the end of the season. We cannot assume the Cowboys will win every game Romo plays, so we are going to need the team to win some games without him if there is any chance. The one good thing you can say about this team is that they play well on the road and not that great at home so getting in as a low seed is not an issue, just making the playoffs is. Hopefully when Dez and Gregory return along with the replacing of Weeden and Leary and seeing what Michael can offer (if anything), the team will do better in the games leading up to Romos' return.

We just don't know yet... I mean the Panthers made the playoffs last season with only 7 wins... We probably wouldn't be so fortunate, but you never know...

Looking at the Wild Card picture.... The Panthers are 4-0 now, but I expect them to come crashing back to Earth now that their schedule is toughening up... Other than that, 8 out of 16 NFC teams currently have 2 wins, with the Vikings currently having the inside track with one less loss at 2-2... We're all thinking that this Giants game will be the most important game in our season, but maybe we get in as a WC, and the most important game actually ends up being the Seattle game, or even the Bucs game for all we know...

And can we "assume the Cowboys will win every game Romo plays"? No, but we also shouldn't "assume" that we won't win them all... Romo thinks we will, that's why he told Brady he'll see him in February... The defense looks to be shaping up, and with Romo and Dez coming back, the Cowboys are gonna be a tough out...

I remember this like it was yesterday. The babe was a terrible QB.

Great memory you got there. Enjoyed that trip down memory lane. Enjoy reading stuff like that.

If the Giants paste us, division is probably gone. We would be 2 back, lose our tiebreak, and Seattle on deck

Not looking good

This board needs a reality check from time to time

Glad to see the changes on offense. I also hope some changes on defense keep up. For example, I like that they've finally been utilizing DBs Jones and White. Hopefully one can take the FS spot.

Lose our tie break? We can still have the tie breaker if we win the other four division games and the Giants don't do the same.

I'd love nothing more than for the Cowboys to eek into the playoffs at 9-7 and proceed to steamroll their way to #6.

Two things going for Dallas: 1) these injuries are bone breaks so once they are cleared they should be full speed ahead. 2) Romo is so zeroed into to playing QB now that I think he steps on field in his first game and plays well.

I'd say winning 2 out of the next 3 would put us back in the driver's seat. winning 1 out of the next 3 keeps us breathing. Going 0-3 and your playoff are on life support needing a 4-5 game winning streak to revive the playoff hopes.
