hope it works.........better techniques and better equipment........we used to wear huge pads and neck rolls..... we shouldn't sacrifice safety for speed

Lacrosse Helmets while not using that technology are subject to deformation to absorb energy.

I'm tired of this concussion ****. Don't play football if you can't deal with a concussion. And please tell me now that past players have sued the NFL that players from now on can't, knowing what they are getting into.

I'm sure this helmet can defuse certain scenarios, but I'm doubtful it can reduce acceleration enough.

It's a simple equation: F=ma. I don't see players reducing mass anytime soon, so acceleration is the only candidate short of moving to non-tackle football or modifying DNA.

Also, I see how it may work in the heavily padded area of the helmet. It is less clear how this deformable helmet protects against side impacts. If it reduced concussions 15% but increases broken necks 3%, detached retinas by 15%, and broken jaws by 25%, is that a win? The best product isn't always the thing that solves a single problem brilliantly. It's sometimes the product that solves the most problems pretty well.

In case anyone missed the last line in the video that was in tiny, medium grey text on a black background:
A correlation between impact reduction and a reduction in concussion risk has not been established.

You are right. There is no way to stop concussions without stopping the game. You can get a concussion if you're hit hard enough in the side or stomach simple because all it takes is your brain to slosh around in your skull. That doesn't require a head hit at all. Like you said, F=ma. That's a very simple formula. If a player going one direction is hit by a player coming in from the side or front, that's enough to cause one. It won't always, but there is always a chance. A side hit offers a greater risk than head on (unless it's a head hit), if I recall.
