Let me preface everything I am about to say with the following: I WANT DALLAS TO WIN!!!

Now that I got that out the way. Let me point out the following: Sunday was bad...really bad. Don't let the lead we jumped out to fool you. If Weeden was the REASON we scored 28 points....I would have some hope. But the reason we scored 28 points was because of our playmakers turning small gains into big plays. We stand very little chance against teams that can score 24+ points. I don't need to remind you all...but we scored ZERO....ZERO points in the 2nd half. At HOME. On national TV....against a QB from Texas...and an ex-coach with an axe to grind...not too mention the whupping we put on them last year....they will be out to destroy us. If we were at full strength on defense...I would give us a chance...but we simply cannot rush the passer with anyone on the DL we trot out at the moment. And the safeties we deploy cannot cover. I love the heart and grit we have shown...but we are not missing depth folks....we are missing impact players. Our depth is currently starting. Scandrick was our best cover CB. Our best pass rushers are out. Our only QB is out. The biggest playmaker on offense is out. We are relying on guys we have NEVER relied on....so as much as I would LOVE to be wrong....we are in deep trouble on the road against teams that score points.

Saints are going to come "gunning". This isnt a lay down or let down game for them.

I'll endorse out of respect for your fandom. I'm insecure too though. Brees wanting to make a statement on prime time, our decimated DL and offensive stars out, etc.

Brees is also missing his stars. Jimmy Graham is gone which is a huge reason New Orleans can't score in the red zone. Offensive line has been amongst the worst in the NFC. They can't get to the second level on linebackers like Atlanta was able too last week and this season in general. Darren Sproles another major mismatch is in Philadelphia. They just don't have enough weapons much like Dallas. The Cowboys offensive line has to play better and I have to believe they will because I just don't think the Saints have the horses up front to dominant the line of scrimmage like the Falcons did.

Atlanta scored over 24 and Dallas was right there in the game with them. Weeden doesn't throw that pick, we don't have some of the penalties we had in the second half that drove us back, and better clock management and the Cowboys likely win so that throws out your theory that Dallas can't compete with teams who can put up points considering we dominated a very explosive Atlanta team in the first half. OL needs to be consistent all four quarters. Not just a half. That's how the Cowboys win. Run the football. Play action. Protect the defense which will get reinforcements soon.

I would hope that a game against an 0-3 team is "winnable".

why people are so afraid of Brees is a mystery.
A) he has clearly been in decline the last two years
B) he has lost his favorite receivers
C) his throwing arm has been weakening already and he is injured there as well

You scared? That's why they play the games. Sit back and enjoy them!

With no Brees, we would have a W and be 3-1...

Now it's like 50/50 for me and I don't like that....

I dunno , some of those backups make us look foolish, renember Austin Manning from the Rams, or colt Manning from the Washington football team?

No matter what happens, this game can be a "statement game". If we lose, the statement will be our season is in a nose dive. If we win, the statement will be "woo hoo, we beat a winless team". Beating a team you should beat, is not much of a statement. What I think of as a "statement games" is winning when many think you can't... like when we beat Seattle in Seattle last season. We need to beat the Saints to remain relevant. Then we will have a statement game in front of us in the Patriots. But... one game at a time.

We need to win this game NE, Giants, Seattle and Eagles all forthcoming including two more critical division games.

I hope Greg and Ro can really make an impact on this defense, we need Randy and Dez back as well, some say for the Giants game.

Hopefully the team won't concede a loss quite as easily as some of their fans.

NE is better and will win the game because they're healthier and they're better. This is not conceding, it's called being realistic.

I think it's going to be a long, hard Sunday night for us Cowboy fans.

Just reading their team's website, hearing their player interviews and reading comments from their fans, this game Sunday night is the game that they put it all out on the line for their season. It's already bleak for them at 0-3 but if they fall to 0-4 their season is pretty much over.

That place will be rockin' and in their minds, it's do or die. We are decimated by injuries and reeling after getting dominated in the 2nd half at home last week.

I hope I'm wrong and in any other circumstances I wouldn't feel this way but I don't feel very good about this game at all.

good points, I think NO is really desperate to win, and they are at home, and crowd will make noise.
Hard to say who will win. but NO is favored by 7

-7 was opening, but a lot of the sports books in Vegas don't even have a spread up. The ones that do have it are -4 to -4.5. The ones that don't probably are waiting to hear from Mr. Brees tomorrow. CBS has "The Line" at Aints -3.5.

eta: 6 of 8 "experts" at CBS pick the Boys against the spread, 5 of 8 straight-up.

Yes, we are going to have to run the football and run it well. At the very least it will have to be established. With that being said, if we can run the ball we won't be able to run it for long if we don't show the ability to throw the ball down the field. We could have destoyed the Falcons last week had we hit receivers that had opportunities down the field.

The Saints are going to crowd the box with 8 and sometimes 9 men, will single up and go one on one on the outside with our receivers and bring exotic blitzes at Weeden. Weeden is going to have to get it through his head to get the ball out and go between the numbers down the field. If he has time for plays to develope he is going to have to go through his progressions and hit what is open down the field.

The reason we lost the game last week is because our defense couldn't stop the Falcons in the second half. A big part of their problem is that our offense couldn't stay on the field because Weeden either missed open receivers or more often never even looked down the field for them and just dumped the ball off.

Our defense did just fine in the first half for who were out there. They were dog tired in the second half and it correlates directly to how poorly this offense was ran. This is the time that the coaching staff needs to earn their paychecks. If they can't get Weeden to put his big boy britches on and throw the ball then they need to get somebody out there that has the cajones to try and get it down the field. Check down city sucks!
