New USA World Cup kits

Don't know how many soccer fans are here (I grew up playing it, and still follow it internationally), but here's the new world cup jerseys for the US. I think they look pretty cool.

he handled the ball not once but twice to set up that goal. ok it would have been penalties so france might have won that and qualified but they clearly cheated to score the goal that took them through.

of course you blame the ref for not seeing it but it doesn't exonerate henry of blame for cheating in the first place.

And yes, you are correct that the French may still have got to the World Cup anyway, but it would have been a 50/50 call. However, it's just more fun to label them as cheats.


Anyway, Brazil are going to win.

They remain the only country to have won a World Cup outside of their own continent, so unless it's an African team (not going to happen) it must be Brazil

going outside of the set rules to gain an unfair advantage is the very definition of cheating

A foul is usually an attempt at a tackle that is mis-timed, but is an attempt to do something within the rules of the game.

For an outfield player to handle the ball is in no way similar to a foul in as much that it's not an attempt to do something within the rules of the game. If the ball just hits you on the hand/arm then that's different, but to deliberately handle the ball, not once but twice is blatantly cheating.

As a result France should not only be kicked out of the World Cup but banned from all international football until they are back to being rubbish again like they were in the 70's

Did Michael Irvin cheat when he pushed off to gain an advantage, he broke the rules, what about a DB who holds/commits PI but is not called, is that cheating? If not, how is that different?

Henry reacted, handballed it and France scored. It wasn't cheating.

To me cheating is bribing an official, taking illegal performance enhancing drugs, etc

Just because England hasn't won anything since 1966 is no reason to be bitter.

I always say re England, if they held World Cups between World Cups, England would be the champs.

England could be tough this time though. Should handle the US easily in their first game and I think they have a decent draw to the Final. Just don't go to a penalty shootout because you couldn't win one if the opponent had no goalie and couldn't take any shots against your goalie.
