IMO, he is a bigger play-maker than Newman.

Every couple of years Newman does something spectacular. This rookie was knocking down balls left and right during the year, that constitutes making-plays.

Meanwhile, Newman is getting dusted by a NONE PLAY MAKING WR WHO INCIDENTALLY WON THE SUPER BOWL, that play sealed it for Pittsburgh.

And to the guy who said Deion had bad games, I don't think so. Deion was a 1 of a kind player, to put he and Newman in the same breath is bad news.

Bro relax...Newman only got abused at the goalline when he had his sports hernia, and wow yea the steelers play he gave up was pretty bad, but come on, lets be real, in deions days you were able to do ****, you couldnt get away with nowadays, and deion didnt always have great games majority were great though....Newman is shut down when healthy, and he proved that when he got back healthy on Moss....

Outside of a gift pick6 against the Jets, I don't recall T-New making any plays. I've seen him shut down some great receivers, but he has always left me wanting more.

You aren't alone by thinking Newman has gotten a pass.

So i guess the game sealin int vs washington, was nothing, he covers like crazy, forget ints, if you want a Hall, go watch Washinton....

gift int? lol wow..he baited the **** out the QB its cool though..by your standards all of baileys ints are gifts as well, because he does the same, baits QB's, but you wouldnt know that, i doubt you watch anything but the cowboys

im with yall...Newman has never really been the shut down guy we wanted....only thing i have faith in is....

a) he will get hurt in camp

b) will be on his way back from injury 4 weeks in a row till he finally comes back...then every time he gets torched excuses will be made that he isnt 100% yet.....

c) while he is out every time another CB gets torched we will hear how things will be different when T-New gets back....

d) every time someone sticks a camera in his face he will complain about players complaining to the media...........

IMO he is very over rated....and everyone who thinks he is a top CB ..please explain why you have come to this conclusion

hes good , but not great

you are right, we are better off without him, lets cut him, and see how well we do

its funny the people over saying the things you are saying, are the same people, moaning and groaning when Newman is out, and we get treated like a rented mule

If the Cardinals would have played Holmes as good as Newman did, they win the Super Bowl. Holmes made two plays on Newman. One on the play where Newman got too aggressive and one on a great pass where the ball was thrown where only he could get it, falling out of bounds.

Dont waste your time 41, we have too many fickle fans who exaggagerate crap beyond belief here. If Newman gives up one play its like he was beat 15 plays in a row. You can count on one hand how many tds he's given up over his career. Teams almost never throw at him because he does stick to his guy like glue. He's probably been beat deep 3 times in his entire career yet some of theese boneheads gawk over guys like Deangelo Hall, who give up tds and long plays on almost a weekly basis and has for 3 or 4 years.

Newman has missed 9 games in his career. (He sat out the 2007 Commanders game and could have played.) I think he had a little bad luck in training camp when some dude fell on him in a non-contact drill.

There is more to being a great CB than picks. Newman's picks have gone up under Wade Phillips. If Phillips leaves him on the other team's best guy next year, they better stop throwing it at him. He will keep making them pay. When he's on the other team's best guy, they are forced to test him more. If Newman covers the best guy and doesn't miss 6 games, he gets or gets close to double digit picks in 2008. If he turns around in the endzone, in Philadelphia, he has 5.

Newman has been the best slot defender in the NFL, and he can win games without touching the ball through his blanket coverage.

Who has shut Steve Smith down 2 times while shadowing him all over the field? That is a pretty good test, imo.

Exactly

He's shut down many big name receivers over the years. People have a very short memory and don't realize the only times he's got burnt were when trying to play through injuries and a surgery...

Or he gives up a completion when the opposing QB makes a perfect throw and they cant give credit to the guy for it. The other team is out there trying to make plays.

I hope he gets hurt(not because i really want it)...just so all these complainers can hit the panic button, and stress when we are getting torched

It didn't lead to any points, so no real harm done.

He made a great play on the ball to end an earlier drive:

On one hand? I know he had a year where he gave up 0. Another year, he gave up 3. Then there was the year where we played the Vikings and Moss worked him over....

He gave up over 5 TDs that year (I want to say the number was 8, according to stats llc, courtesy of Adam.) That alone would put him well over 5, one hand, like you claim.

I'm not ragging on Newman here.

More just ragging on your comment.

The man is top 5 hands down......face it,dadymat is a sports center type of guy, ints matter to him, and running picks back, we all should know by the way he talks, he has never played a sport, or football a day in his life, and does not watch any other games but cowboy games, except sports center, because if he did, and he seen the plays other corners give up, he would see just hot good Newman really is, in a league thats set up to protect the WR

You can rag all you want, but Newman has not given up more than 5 tds in any single season.

As for Moss "working him over" I'm assuming you are referring to his 2nd season season opener, and thats the yr he played hurt all yr. Moss also grossly pushed off on both those short tds. Moss caught 4 passes for 27yds that day. 2 of them were tds inside the 3yd line. Thats hardly being "worked over"

I'm not worried about his play.

But I am worried if he can stay healthy. Back to back years he's had lingering injuries...

ddadymat is just another newbie who knows nothing beyond the last 2 years.
Sad to see so many of them flapping their gums about things they know squat about.
