Was it just me or did Newman really come to play 2nite hurt and all. Seemed like he was laying more licks than our Safties and Linebackers.

He looked very good tonight, which is a very good thing.

I really thought he would score on his Int. He didn't seem as fast as I thought he was.

It would be an interesting race between him and L. Evans if he was healthy. Both guys can fly.

Newman did look fast, but not as fast as he normally would be. He is still dealing with his injuries. He also had to slow down and reach back to get the interception because Ware tipped it. Also, Lee Evans also is extremely fast. Probably as fast as Newman. The guy chasing always has the edge because the guy carrying the ball does not get full use of his arms to build up speed.

He was extremely aggressive the whole game...

It's really nice to have him back. Our young guys are improving and hopefully Henry will be back soon. Our secondary is looking up...

So did I. That was disappointing to me. I was wondering if his foot issues were the cause or Evans speed.

Well said. I think he had his feet tangled a bit, too at one point.

Evans is lightning fast. It's impressive that they weren't able to go to him at all.

Also, someone had a bit of an angle on him, and he slowed a bit to make a move just before Evans caught him.

I love how Newman's 'not that fast' now because he got caught from behind by a guy who ran a 4.3 at the Combine while playing with a plantar fisciitis, running with the ball and slowing down to make a cutback.

I think i part of it was the foot injury but the other part was Newman kept looking back and to his side to see who was coming instead of just running straight as fast as he could.

Let's not forget, only giving up one catch to Lee Evans.

Darn right. Before the game, I was worried he might catch a long one or two on us -- he's got that kind of talent. For some reason I could see him catching a long one on Newman, but it never even came close to happening.

What I loved was how quickly he got up on WRs on those little swing passes. Seemed like he'd be off in coverage, not even on the screen, and they'd throw a quick one to the receiver, and Newman was on him BAM just like that. I'd almost forgotten how quick he is.

(But next time on the INT, TNew, just head immediately to the sideline, put your head down and turn the burners on. ;))
