Newman got lucky on that slant, one point for Smith even though he dropped it.

Smith had two deep chances on the 2nd series where TNew was straight man up. Point, Newman

Overall, trying to be a non biased fan I still have to score it like 114-113, 115-113 Newman. It was a good battle where Smith was contained. 6 for like 55 yards is not bad.

Newman got a bad rap on the Keyshawn pass where he didnt turn around and Key wanted interference; that was a blown coverage by a saftey. Newman was in a zone and was alert enough to say "ohh crap, no one's behind me" and he chased him.

Two of Smith's catches and yards were cheap stat-padders before the end of the half.

I also saw at least one catch where we were in zone coverage and Newman passed Smith along to someone else.

I remember last season when the Cowboys shut Smith down, Darren Woodson was interviewing Smith during the playoffs and film was being shown on how the Boys kept him in check. He made a comment about how the Cowboys were home and the Panthers were still playing.

What's going to be your excuse this time, Steve?:D

Boy, its mighty quiet there, like they are at the library. They must be wondering "what the heck happened to Steve Smith?". Where'd he go? :laugh2:

Guys, the slant that Smith dropped could have been ugly. Other than that, Newman was very good.

Newman was very good, tonight, as I expected though. The boy can cover anyone in this league. As far as receiving is concerned, Smith didn't do much at all. He's considered by many to be the best at his position, but that is two years in a row that Newman has pretty much blanketed him, IN THERE HOUSE!

My scorecard reads, 2-0, unanimously in TNew's favor.

It could've been, but I think Newman would have caught him. Smith is fast, but Newman might be the fastest guy in the league. Remember when he ran down Moss last year?

I've got three of Steve Smith's catches as being irrelevant. I've also got him down for some significant drops. I guess we just all go back to keeping our stats though ;)

(Those of you who saw Steve Smith after the game will know that last sentence.)

I had Newman allowing one catch for 11 yards, a quick slant when Newman was all over Smith and tackled him right away.

Twenty-six games and counting.

Sorry, but that was one of the worst plays I have ever seen T Newman make. It should have been interference and worst of all he had an easy pick if he plays the ball like he should instead of turing tail and running for Keyshawn. He should be embarrassed at that play. Henry should be embarrasssed for letting Keyshawn abuse him too!

It was said last week Smith could not be stopped? I think Dallas and Newman once again proved that Smith can be contained. After the 2 games Smith has had against Dallas I would think he is having nightmares about Blue Stars surrounding him. :laugh2:
