The Cowboys did not look good in Denver. They lost 23-13. The first team defense looked lost and allowed Denver to throw all over them and score 14 first half points.

Broncos quarterback Jay Cutler looked like a guy you wanted to draft for your fantasy team, completing his first 12 passes for 142 yards.

The Cowboys first team offense got derailed by false starts and unnecessary roughness penalties. Linebacker Greg Ellis had to give a pep talk to the defense because guys were barking at each other on the sideline.

The special teams units look a thousand times better.

The Cowboys are 0-2 in the preseason and will host Houston Friday night.

The bad news was Miles Austin left the game with a sprain MCL. Miles was very good and caught at touchdown pass and then got hurt covering the kickoff after he scored. Not good.

Linebacker Kevin Burnett had a sprained knee earlier in the week and had to undergo knee surgery and will be out three to four weeks.

Brad Johnson went out and played a darn good game. Bull threw a TD pass and his passes had zip. Johnson completed nine of 12 passes for 114 yards and a TD. Rich Bartel had some decent moments despite his interception.

I was glad to see Ellis step up. Evidently guys were starting to argue on the sideline and Ellis put a stop to it and helped get the defense focused.

I heard Ellis said something along the lines that "This is preseason. You shouldn't be concerned about preseason, but about what's really important.....my contract."

Ellis takes a lot of grief around here and no doubt he has brought some of that on himself but he does hold respect on this team with those defensive players. During the last couple of off-season Greg has made some noise but come the season the guy does his job and has not created distraction on this team.

Some of that smell was seeping from the refs also. :gassy1:

Now I hope you guys noticed that Denver wasn't just serving "vanilla" on their side of the ball. After them moaning about our D coordinator Stewart breaking the coach's code last preseason, they break out the strawberry/chocolate.
