Can Bill do for the OL next season what he's done for the DL/LB this year or is Zro right in his assertion Bill has killed the OL.

I think Bill has some serious flaws in his coaching - from critical play-calling to how he treats players (dropping f-bombs on McBriar when the whole world knew it was the OL who deserved them) to his attitude towrds injuries. That being said, I'm happy to give Bill another off-season and draft to address the offense and see if this team can finally get some balance.

bill doesnt call plays, payton does.

This O-Line was alright until Flo went down. He might not be the greatest LT in the league but he was very valuable because we could trust him to protect bledsoe, now we have to help both tackles...killing the passing game

It's been a trend the last three seasons, the offensive start off playing good then it declines at the end of the season. So i do put the blame on parcell because it happening under his watch.

Yelling at McBriar was ridiculous. And then to say that our defense should have done a better job at stopping their offense....they allowed 10 points, our offense allowed the other 7.

I think he needs to concentrate more on remedial training of the tackle position. Yes, Tucker and Petitti went up against some very good linemen yesterday, but Petitti hasn't been too stellar all season long. He's had his moments though. And don't give me this crap about being a 6th rounder......BP put him in there. It would then be BP's fault that he didn't upgrade the position better.

Perhaps BP should look in the mirror with Payton standing next to him and yell for awhile.

lol...this is funny!

Payton calls the plays...BP can intervien if he wants, but said he really doesn't...the plays the first half, and the 3rd and 1 were flat out pathetic!!!!

Someone please hire Payton as a head coach and get is arse OFF this team...and provide us a sure win against wherever he goes.

Edit: Infact let's hire Martz as OC...between his pass happy offense and BP wanting to force the run...I think we could get a pretty balanced offense. :lmao2:

I would have loved to see BP's reaction to the 3rd and short play where we threw the ball long.

Well, BP knew the o-line played like crap. As for McBriar maybe BP shouldnt have yelled at him, but he is not kicking like he did in preseason. He probably got on the defense for they dont get big heads, and maybe they will get an attitude like the Bears and dont think nobody can score against them.

I'd really like to know who called that??? I think it was Payton....I do. At the same time BP heard the call and let it go....***???

This kinda crap really confuses me...this kind of play flat out tells your oline they suck! Hey guys...we need one yard and the game is on the line...I think we have a better chace of throwing the ball up for grabs then to have your sorry arses block for one yard...what do ya'all think???

I think it's a case of the coaches out-thinking themselves.....I'm sure that they thought that the Giants just KNEW that we would try to run the ball, so they decided to pass.

It's kinda like the second Philly game....all you heard all week long was "hornets nest" this and "hornets nest" that....then they abandoned EVERYTHING that worked the first time. They allowed themselves to believe something that may not have been there in the first place.

They have continually allowed the opponents dictate the game instead of the other way around....only one time did we do the dictating and that, again, was the first Philly game.

You know...I agree with this...I really do now.

Example:
Raiders game...very weak DB's, however we NEVER challenged them all game...we played the run game and got beat by it. We executed against a very conservative game plan and got beat.

Yeah they got their sacks...but if we get stuffed in the run do we stop???

Same with Philly....

I don't know a time this year when we ran to set up the pass and it worked...however when we came out firing...we had our best running games...

BUt wait a minute look at our run to pass ratio???
~ LOL we pass because we are behind in the game to catch up....we need to unload and run to have ball control....I better stop here....driving me nuts!

Early in the season, when we faced a team that was poor against the pass....we ran the ball. When we faced a team that was weak against the run.....we threw the ball.

It's a copy-cat league....at least it is when teams play us. We try to re-invent the wheel every week.

Is it just me or is it every week there are 3-5 calls made that leave me shaking my head asking ***??? Every week we have some serious boneheaded play calls...I seriously don't get it.

The one that is killing me the most is the rollout right with Bledsoe...........can someone please scrap that play.

We need some movement before the snap. We shift the FB's and the TE's... that's about it.

By movement - I'm not talking about false start penalties. We have plenty of those.

We also need to spread the defense out on running plays.

I'm tired of seeing a 2 TE set with 1 WR out wide and we try to run it up the middle. I know whats coming....my wife knows what's coming, people in their graves know what's coming, why shouldn't the defense know what's coming?

The onther play which needs to be scrapped is the stretch play/screen pass. This OL is simply not built to run stretch plays or execute a screen pass.

There is more than one way to beat pressure, too.

1. You can take the conservative approach and keep TE's and RB's in the backfield to block.

2. You can keep an equal amount of players in to block, ie one RB and count on yours to hold off theirs....

3. You can dictate by putting more in the pattern than the opponent can cover. By doing this, you are relying on your Pro Bowl QB, Pro Bowl WR's and Pro Bowl TE to make quick, smart decisions and be playmakers. You are also putting LESS pressure on the weakest part of your offense, the OL.

We always choose #1 unless we're behind and forced to pass.

Is it because (A) the QB and playmakers aren't good enough or (B) the head coach is just too damn conservative?

I haven't seen us do it enough to say it's conclusively A.

Our head coach needs to quit being so conservative.

The sad part is that 3 guys beat our entire o-line last week. There were actually times that they only rushed 3 guys and STILL got to Bledsoe.

We aren't doing our TE's ANY good whatsoever by keeping them in to block. We SHOULD use a FB or RB or both to block and send out the TE's. If I were Witten, I'd be getting pissed off right now because you see all of these other TE's getting paid, yet he's been relegated to becoming a blocking TE.....which is NOT what he is, nor should he be used as one.

Personally, I like your 3rd idea the best. Why? Because it would be US dictating to the defense, NOT the other way around....which is how our offense has played week-in and week-out except for ONE game (Philly).

BP is more concerned with Time Of Possession than he is points it seems, and this is a problem.
