NFC Championship in Dallas a good possibility...

I got this idea from a post by Big Dog, when he speculated the NFC Championship game might very well be held in Dallas, since its quite possible the Bears will drop their playoff game. When I think about it, IF we can get the first round bye and homefield for our first game, I would give us very good odds. I STILL don't think the Bears are balanced enough to get deep into the playoffs. I'm thinking right now, if i had to make a bet, I would bet the NFC Championship is held in Dallas, and if so, I like our chances...
Dont wake me up........... :)

I give the Saints enough creidt to bring the NFC Championship to Texas and then get humiliated.

Formula for beating the Bears.

1. Don't turn the ball over. Play conservatively.

2. Play good special teams - no returns for TD's

3. Put pressure on Rex to create own turnovers.

The New Orleans Saints would beat the Chicago Bears in Chicago, so yes, I believe this is a distinct or even likely possibility. I don't believe that Seattle is a better team than Chicago. So the real question is whether Dallas will be the second or third seed. It's a big difference.

Let's assume Chicago takes the top seed while Dallas, Seattle, and New Orleans take the next three spots. First of all I don't think it's a guarantee that Seattle or New Orleans can beat Chicago in Chicago. However, if they do then the winner of the other conference semifinal matchup will host whoever beat Chicago.

For the sole purpose of hosting the conference final it doesn't matter if we're the 2nd seed or the 3rd seed. Having the 2nd seed increases the odds of making it to the conference championship since we'll have one less game to play and the semifinal will be at home.

That's not right. Chicago won't play in the wildcard round so it would be a loss in the divisional game. The next game is the NFC Championship game. The NFL does not use a bracket system, playoff matchups are determined based on seeding week-to-week. So if Dallas is the #2 seed and Chicago is out, they will host the championship game.

Last year the Bears won their division and remember they played their game in Chicago where they lost but don't remember who beat him. During last Chicago game televised (Grossman had 1.4 rating) it was said it didn't matter how he played in Chicago in Jan/Feb cause you can't throw the ball. That would be a big problem for us cause I don't believe our running game is anywhere near good enough to carry the day against the Bears. Now if they mean the weather might be bad--snowing, etc., maybe.

im equally worried about the saints playing in chicago. passing dependant teams are not going to walkover the bears in chicago. Their defense is nothing to scoff at.

Dallas hosting the NFC Championship? A good possibility?

Wow, that is WAAAY down the road.

We have plenty of our own regular season business to tend to. Then hopefully, we have playoff business to tend to.

A lot can happen in 4 regular season games. Hot teams can cool. Stagnant teams can gel & heat up. Injuries can shift the balance of power.

I don't think we have much of an idea what Seattle will look like in 4 weeks as Hasselbeack & Alexander round back into shape. Or maybe the Giants pull back together. The Saints seem to be rallying right now. The Bears seem to be slipping but might right the ship over the next 4 weeks.

We probably have as good a chance as anyone (cept Da Bears cuz they're 10-2) to host that game at this point but I sure wouldn't say "its a good possibility". Too much script yet to be written.

Hey,,, someone stole this game plan from Chicago! :p:

seriously, Lovie would be a giant sized buffoon if he let lil' rex wing the ball around in the playoffs. I think they're letting rex do it now in hopes that he will improve but come playoff time all that crap will be ripped out of the playbook... either that or Griese will be behind center.

I'll tell you what folks, I think the Bears have a great defense and special teams, but if their offense isn't at least average they have no shot against a good team like a playoff squad. IMO no team in the NFC playoff hunt should fear them. Not even in Chi-town.

This opinion could change if they suddenly find the missing ingredient to their offensive struggles. I don't see it happening.

The Bears better hope the weather shuts down their passing game before Grossman is allowed to implode them in the playoffs.
I think the weather factor is a bit overrated in hampering a passing team.
A smart team will just shorten up their routes if its windy. It the field is frozen, the offense is typically considered to have the advantage since the WRs know where they are going and the DBs are more likely to slip reacting to them.
I like Romo's quick thinking and improv skills if he has to deal with bad weather.

Think it was Carolina that beat them at home last season, btw.

Am I the only one who still believes that the Bears should be favorites right now. The Bears embarassed Seattle in Chicago and I see them stepping their game up in the playoffs. Going to Chicago in January is not going to be easy for anybody.

Correct.

And from another post [from followthestar] about Chicago probably losing their first game. Don't be to sure of that. They are 10-2, with a good chance at 14-2. Playoffs is an entire different monster. So don't sell them short. Just because they have struggled on offense lately, doesn't mean they will lie down to be ran over.

I think the Bears are 10-2 and I look at them as the team to beat in the NFC. There is no doubt they do have a weakness namely their offense but their defense has done a great job and any team faced to play them will have their work cut out for them.

I wont wake you up... as a matter of fact... here is a sleeping pill post LOL

Not long ago we were 4-4 and playoff possibilites looked bleak.... NOW we are 8-4 and only 2 games seperate us from the best record in the entire NFL... one more slip up by the Bears and we are on the verge of controlling the whole "Tournament"....

Their defense, teams and talent on offense will be tough in their house. 10-2 is still 10-2, I don't care how you do it. They are vunerable but hold a tremendous advantage at home.

Nah... I aint gonna go crazy about their 10-2... remember when they were 13-3.... one of the worst 13-3 teams I ever saw.....

Now... if we were 10-2.. THEN I would say... hmm.... that team did something... all the Bears did was dodge a few bullets.... eventually you get hit.... and its deadly....
