I know. The point spread was 49ers -3 and that was during the time I was a heavy gambler. I had 300 bucks on the 49ers. The game came down to the Giants in the redzone. I will remember that game forever.

The reason I say they were the 2nd best team is because the championship game was all but over. And the fact they lost that game 7-3. But both teams were great. The Giants needed a miracle in that championship game and got it. Had the 49ers RB not fumbled with about 2 and a half minutes left on first down in Giants territory, game over. The 49ers were the better team. But not by much.

Actually, Steve Young came in and drove them right down the field. They had a first and 10 with just over 2 and a half minutes in Giants territory. The game was essentially over. Then Craig fumbles.

wasn't the fumble on that same drive? young came in and then craig fumbled? I haven't watched that game in a while i just remember it as craig fumbling late and giving ny a miracle shot at a field goal.

I think dallas lost those Pittsburgh SB's due to Bradshaw being able to call his own plays, and Staubach was landrys puppet QB.
I think is some of the comebacks staubach did, he was calling the plays.
Landry is the reason we have OC's and puppet QB's today. he was successful over the years, but in games against good teams with good defense
    he wasnt that good.
Staubauch was smart and experienced, and on the field, he should have called the plays.

There was one incident, where hollywood made franco really mad, and he came back to the huddle and said give me the ball, I am gonna
run over that xxx , so terry called a run play and gave franco the ball , and a 20 yd td run was the result.
Staubach in same situation would have to call what landry sent in, which eliminates things like what bradshaw did.

even today I think it is stupid that guys like rodgers, mahomes,Brady, even dak, dont call their own plays.
Only with rookie, or dumb qb's should the oc call the plays.

I think that 92-95 Cowboys team would destroy those teams. Frankly I struggle to think of any team in history that would have beaten that team.

Yes. Young came in and drove them down the field. One really good pass for like 20 yards. The 49ers had a 1st and 10 in Giants territory with around 2 and a half minutes. Then Craig fumbled.

I agree with you 100%. I always thought it was stupid that a veteran QB doesn't call his own plays. Absolutely ridiculous. But hey, that's how they do it now.

Of course, most are going to say the Cowboys.

It's between the 86 Giants, the 91 WFT and the 92 Cowboys.
I think the Giants have the best defense, but they went up against a Broncos team that didn't really have a potent offense outside Elway. It did not have the running attack like the Skins or the Cowboys did. So I don't know how the Giants would have fared against either the Skins or the Cowboys offense.
I would say the Skins had the advantage in play calling with Gibbs as coach, but it's hard to place him above Jimmy Johnson, who was a master motivator. And the Hogs were as formidable on the offensive line as we were.

I think, overall, the Skins defense was a bit better than ours, so I'll give it to them by an inch.

I think this was a very objective opinion - That Giant D was nasty not to mention they had parcells and belichek coaching so i have no doubt they would have had a solid game plan ( not to say it would have worked but both coaches always schemed well ) their O would struggle i believe vs our D though so i think we had the edge

Football Team were nasty to they had a good D and could score on O - this would have been IMO the harder game

I like Aikman hands down over all the other Qb's -

I just believe these games would have been a dogfight for sure and not as easy as many would think.

I think the 92/93 Cowboys beat the 77/78 Cowboys.

It's hard to pull against the Cowboys. They were stocked across the board on offense with Aikman, Irvin, Emmitt, Novacek and the offensive line.

Our defense was great - but it was great because of Haley and the cohesive play of the whole unit. The Giants had stars in Carson, LT and Banks as a linebacking corp. and two of the greatest football minds in Parcells and Belichick. Our defensive weakness was that we had smallish players up front (Maryland and Jones, for example) and at linebacker (Edwards, Smith), and I think the Giants, even though not spectacular on offense, could eat up the clock as they did against the Bills.

So I can't say with certainty the Cowboys would have dusted the Skins or the Giants. I just think Gibbs was a better play caller and strategist overall, which is why I give the Skins at slight edge over the Boyz and the Giants. I mean, he took three teams with three different quarterbacks to Super Bowl wins. That has to account for something.
