I don't know if it was live or simply re-airing something from earlier, but about an hour ago I watched Schefter and Glazer talk to Eisen on NFL Total Access at the Super Bowl.
I came in right in the middle of it, but here's my best re-cap.
Both of them came out and said TO would be gone.
Glazer said he talked with Jerry Jones and the Cowboys coaches at the Senior Bowl. Jerry told him that the most important thing was to make sure they did everything to help their franchise QB succeed. At this point, Eisen suggested that the best way to do that was to have TO catching his passes. Schefter and Glazer both said there were strong factions of Valley Ranch that didn't think that was the case...
So Eisen asks, will TO be gone? They both answer, "Yes." When Eisen asked when, they both agreed that it would be relatively quickly. Schefter was specific enough to suggest that it would probably happen before the beginning of the NFL season next year in March. He said he thought it would be around the time of the combine...just a couple of weeks away.
When Eisen asked where they thought TO might be playing next year, Glazer said that the Vikings receivers coach who had TO in SF told him and the Cowboys coaches at the combine that if Dallas let him go, he would love to have him. Schefter and Glazer both got a good laugh about thinking of TO being coached by Brad Childress again though. In the end, they both thought Oakland might make some sense for him.
But the bigger issue to me about that part was how open these talks were at the combine. I mean, it sounded to me like the Cowboys were talking seriously about sending TO packing, and they were even saying these things in front of coaches from other teams.
So Eisen asked if this would be the biggest story of the off-season, and both of the reporters said that they thought Mike Vick would end up being a bigger story...
Anyway, both of those guys sounded pretty sure that TO, despite being a great player, would not be playing for the Cowboys next year. Obviously, they aren't the ones making the decision, but it's interesting nonetheless.
