Yep, especially since we haven't won anything of any real value since he has been on the team.

I believe there are maybe 1-3 Players we can't afford to lose and Terrell Owens isn't one of them.

I agree....

If TO stays that's good! But if he wants to win, he needs to chill.

But if he's done...good luck Cowboys.

I don't know if it was live or simply re-airing something from earlier, but about an hour ago I watched Schefter and Glazer talk to Eisen on NFL Total Access at the Super Bowl.

I came in right in the middle of it, but here's my best re-cap.

Both of them came out and said TO would be gone.

Glazer said he talked with Jerry Jones and the Cowboys coaches at the Senior Bowl. Jerry told him that the most important thing was to make sure they did everything to help their franchise QB succeed. At this point, Eisen suggested that the best way to do that was to have TO catching his passes. Schefter and Glazer both said there were strong factions of Valley Ranch that didn't think that was the case...

So Eisen asks, will TO be gone? They both answer, "Yes." When Eisen asked when, they both agreed that it would be relatively quickly. Schefter was specific enough to suggest that it would probably happen before the beginning of the NFL season next year in March. He said he thought it would be around the time of the combine...just a couple of weeks away.

When Eisen asked where they thought TO might be playing next year, Glazer said that the Vikings receivers coach who had TO in SF told him and the Cowboys coaches at the combine that if Dallas let him go, he would love to have him. Schefter and Glazer both got a good laugh about thinking of TO being coached by Brad Childress again though. In the end, they both thought Oakland might make some sense for him.

But the bigger issue to me about that part was how open these talks were at the combine. I mean, it sounded to me like the Cowboys were talking seriously about sending TO packing, and they were even saying these things in front of coaches from other teams.

So Eisen asked if this would be the biggest story of the off-season, and both of the reporters said that they thought Mike Vick would end up being a bigger story...

Anyway, both of those guys sounded pretty sure that TO, despite being a great player, would not be playing for the Cowboys next year. Obviously, they aren't the ones making the decision, but it's interesting nonetheless.

A Cowboys team without Owens would also mean more targets for Jason Witten, Patrick Crayton and Miles Austin.
Bennett, MBIII, F. Jones, Choice..........

I was actually watching NFL Total Access recently and Shefter himself said he thinks he WILL be back next season.

The main post and your post is great news. ;) Owens is a player on the downside of his career. He doesn't need 140-150 balls directed at him or 9.0+ pass attempts (per game) directed at him after his play declined significantly this past season. He will never be happy with averaging 3-5 balls per game, and he will not accept that fact. It's time for the TEAM to be the offense. Phillips has vowed to run it more. The proper balance can be achieved.

Roy E. Williams
Miles Austin
Jason Witten
Martellus Bennett
Patrick Crayton
Marion Barber
Felix Jones
Tashard Choice
Tony Romo

Everyone, together, is plenty enough to survive without Owens' 65.8 YPG and 10 touchdowns and 1,000 yards. Felix Jones can score 10 TDs all by himself when he's healthy.

Dallas has averaged 10.1 wins (per season) with Owens on the team. I bet they can get at least 10 without him.

That's interesting about them discussing this so openly. Good way to get across to TO's agent that they need to be working teams for a job.

Again this offense needs to score 25+ points a game to be successful in this league. They can do that without TO. My question is does Jerry want to pay him 9.6 million dollars to not play for him. My next question is if he's released and someone else signs him, do they have to pay part of his salary?

Schefter and Glazer were saying that they thought that TO would not be a Cowboy within a few weeks - that around the combine, Dallas and TO would part ways.

Who knows what will happen? But those guys sounded like they thought TO was gone.

Why the wait? Makes no sense. Jerry likes TO a lot, he'd give him every chance to catch on with another team.

I think if he was going to be gone, we'd know it by now.

Most felt he would behave himself and it would be a worthwhile gamble for a year or two. The first couple of years I think he did what we expected. This past year though, more of the old T.O. started coming out and now I think he's worn out his welcome. The fact he's 35 now also makes it easier to let him go.

I hope he does go and hopefully TRRW will be able to step up in the #1 role and thrive now.

I'll be quite surprised, almost shock really, if Owens isn't on this team next season. I honestly can't seem to find one good reason to believe that any of these people speculating that he won't be here are going to actually be correct.

38 TDs in 3 seasons starting here tells me that it's highly unlikely that Jerry is going to part ways with Owens.
