You bet.

We Franchised Ken Hamlin, Pro Bowl FS, so we wouldn't lose him.

We signed Zach Thomas, a 7 time Pro Bowl ILB, to come in and solidify a weakness in our pass coverage at ILB.

We Tendered Marion Barber, a Pro Bowl RB, at a price of a 1st and a 3rd round pick, so that means if anyone pays more for him than we can, we receive their 1st and 3rd round Draft picks as compensation. If no one signs him away from us we got him at a steal of a price.

We Tendered Chris Canty at a price of a 1st round pick. That means if someone pays him more than we can we get their 1st round Draft pick as compensation. If no one signs him away from us we got him at a steal of a price.

We re-signed 3 time Pro Bowl, 2007 All Pro LT Flozell Adams, thus protecting the blindside of our 2 time Pro Bowl QB for a few more years.

In the meantime other teams are spending foolishly and lavishly on players who will have to come in and make their mark in a new system.

We still have $3.8+ million dollars in space and 2 first round Draft picks are not being squandered though every rumor in the world is circulating.

If you were a Cowboys fan you'd be really proud of our Front Office. On top of these moves they currently are assured at least 2 Compensatory picks in the 2009 Draft for the Free Agent losses of Julius Jones and Jacques Reeves. They could still net 2 more if Nate Jones and Keith Davis exit stage left too.

I hope this helps. Good luck at work.

Not to count our chickens before they hatch, but . . . . .

I wonder what round our comp picks will fall assuming the status quo (i.e., FA ended just like this for us)?

Both Reeves and JJ appear to have gotten decent contracts, esp. Reeves, with around $8mm in guaranteed money.

I wonder if we can get at least a 5th rounder for one of these guys next year?

Or is it more likely 6th and 7th rounders?

Julius Jones is nothing more than the Eddie George (*corrected) that we got from Tennessee... Remember all the times he ran in to the pile.

I was such a die hard Julius Jones fan, even as far as about 4 games into this year believing his whole "Bill Parcells made me a robot theory", but after seeing him make the usual run-into-the-pile runs, I had enough of him.

He is not that good as a RB. Good luck to him, but not sure that will help him either.

People can say what they want about julius. he is a good guy and hard worker. He is crucified here because he is not marion barber or emmit smith.

However he ran hard and played a role in winning alot of games this year. He ran really hard this year particluarly against the giants, pats, eagles and bills.

I think with the picks we have we can upgrade, but there is no need for all this julius bashing.

And yet, Bill P and Mike H think otherwise.

Bill Drafted him, and Mike signed him to big bucks.

check out the ego on his ******* page: http://profile.*******.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendID=118075286

Ask anyone I know that I have defended him and gave him the benefit of the doubt from day one, but after seeing that ******* page and of course his CONSTANT running into piles, and his whining on the sidelines and in press about not getting enough carries, I think he gets what he deserves.

First year was impressive, after that I think he sucked.... I thought maybe injuries, etc... was reason, but now realize that if it quacks like a duck, walks like a duck, and looks like a duck, then it must be a duck.

Michael Turner made big bucks. Julius deal was reasonable, but not big bucks. Turner's guaranteed amount is more than Julius' entire deal.

And Mike H. who?

JONES WILL MAKE MORE THAN ALEXANDER IN 2008
Posted by Mike Florio on March 8, 2008, 8:22 p.m.

Here’s another piece of evidence that potentially supports the notion that the arrival of running back Julius Jones in Seattle could be the end of the road for Shaun Alexander.

Per Adam Schefter of NFL Network, Jones will make $5.5 million this year. And, per NFLPA records, Alexander’s base salary is scheduled to be only (only?) $4.475 million in 2008.

In all, Jones’ deal is for four years and $16 million. In contrast, Alexander is scheduled to earn base salaries totaling $24 million over the next four seasons, making Jones the more affordable long-term option.

With T.J. Duckett also getting $4 million in guaranteed money, it’s more likely than not at this point that there will be a changing of the guard at tailback in Seattle.

And we all know NFL coaches have never been wrong when evaluating a player.

So does this mean the Seahawks won't take a running back in the first?

A WR would make more sense, actually-Deion Branch can't stay healthy, and he tore his ACL in the GB playoff game.

This is obviously a prelude to doing just that.

With that being said-maybe Julius just needs a new home. To start off, injuries slowed his progress a bit, then once he would start getting it going, either faulty game plans(i.e. the Saints in '04), injuries again(the high ankle sprain in '05 against Philly), and ultimately MB3 getting 1/2 of his carries(i.e. after starting out great in '06, stunk it up the remainder) would square 1 him again.

And besides, the Oline concerns me somewhat-we pass block brilliantly, but we're not athletic enough to maul quick defenders in run blocking, and they can't set up screens either, which is Julius' biggest strength.

As for him calling out Parcells last year? Big deal-didn't Chris Canty do the same?

If you look at the post, I'm the one who listed it first, and I called three of the teams with interest in him, so I'm Queen Nostradamus.

I'll allow it.

Well, with Seattle out of the way (in terms of wanting a running back) then that leaves Houston, Detroit, Carolina, Tampa Bay, Arizona and, of course, Dallas as contestants in the Mendenhall-Stewart sweepstakes. :)
