The NFL's players association and owners groups have reached agreement on the remaining points needed in their 10-year labor deal, sources from both sides said.

Despite the fact the new deal will require a majority vote from the players, that part of the deal between the two sides is considered a formality, according to sources.

The NFLPA is making plans for a major press conference Monday. But first the player reps are scheduled to fly to Washington, D.C., on Sunday so they can vote Monday.

NFLPA executive director DeMaurice Smith knows his executive committee, his players reps and the rest of his constituents well enough to know how they will vote.

Lockout Latest: Recertify Votes Scheduled, Free Agency A Week Away

The NFL and the Players Association have made enough progress over the weekend that it appears an end to the lockout is in sight. Again. For real this time.

Albert Breer of NFL Network, amongst others, has reported that late Saturday night, after a day of conference call negotiations, the sides appear to have worked out several points. So much so, that the NFLPA has scheduled a Monday meeting for it's executive committee to finally vote on the CBA. The 13-man committee is expected to approve the terms, which would trigger the next step in the process. The theme of these CBA negotiations, with a caveat that things could still fall apart, still applies.

Several reports, including this one from ESPN's John Clayton and Chris Mortensen, state that Saturday's compromises will allow players from some teams into facilities this Wednesday in order to vote on union re-certification. The remaining teams would open their doors by Friday for polling, with hopes enough votes would be collected. '50 percent plus one' of the roughly 1900 NFL players would have to approve the union being formed again. The step is necessary for an end to the lockout, as only a union can negotiate benefits packages, drug testing and player discipline. Those points are said to already be unofficially agreed upon...

ESPN has upped the language and certainty of their report that says the process to end the lockout will start with a vote Monday.

No longer is a meeting between the NFLPA* executive committee “expected.” Now the players have bought tickets and are flying in Sunday for a Monday meeting.

No longer are there a few minor points left to figure out. Adam Schefter reports the two sides “have reached agreement” on the remaining issues.

Yahoo Sports' Jason Cole cites an NFL source who confirms ESPN's Chris Mortensen's report that the final issues have been worked out and that the players will hold a vote on the new CBA on Monday. If passed, as expected, players could report to their teams by Wednesday.

Note if passed, now are the players going to get their back up again?

At some point, around Wednesday or Thursday, the three day window for teams to re-sign veteran free agents to be and drafted rookies would open.

Time for a PFT or Mort Report article stating something happened and negotiations are back to pre-lockout levels .. :D

I think that Florio is already intensely writing just an article to stir that projected waters...

OK, apparently it's the real deal this time. On Monday, for sure, we can all finally drink a celebratory brew (or two). It's been a long time coming. I'm pretty doggone elated. Let the preparatory madness begin . . . :)
