A good week for ...

Dallas Cowboys rookies: This has nothing to do with the broken bone in Tony Romo's back. That injury will keep Dak Prescott in the spotlight longer than expected, but his performance against Seattle on Thursday night showed how the Cowboys can survive. Prescott showed he can stand tall against pressure, even if heat is rare behind the boffo Cowboys line. Prescott avoided big mistakes, ran the hurry-up like a veteran and got the Cowboys starters to halftime tied against a stout defense.

More importantly, Prescott will have the support of a strong running game. Ezekiel Elliott put more skills on tape (power, burst, vision, blocking, toughness) in 14 snaps than some NFL starters show their whole career. Even the Jones family couldn't overhype this kid enough.

Not a good week for ...

The starting chances of rookie quarterbacks not named Dak: No. 1 overall pick Jared Goff hasn't been able to finish two of his three appearances because of big hits. He's made a few nice throws but has also shown -- without a doubt -- that he's not ready to play yet.

No. 2 overall pick Carson Wentz is set to miss his third straight gameThursday. Broncos first-rounder Paxton Lynch throws screaming fireballs at unsuspecting third-stringers. He had a chance to put heat on Trevor Siemian before going through a six-drive stretch that featured only two first downs, with a six-incompletion streak thrown in. This week will be key for Lynch establishing himself as an option to start later in the year.

Hmmm ... I knew the other rookie QBs weren't looking as a good as Dak (although Lynch's numbers had seemed OK), but it looks like they may be pretty far behind, especially considering that Dak has stood in with the starters against starters and performed well.

It all may ultimately be meaningless because we don't know who will develop, but glad we're on the good side of this right now, especially with Romo's injury.

I am very happy Dak has played well (so far), but I can't help wondering how Goff and Wentz would perform behind our offensive line.

They would probably do pretty good. Remember how Aikman was reduced to an ordinary QB when the o-line degraded? Good QB's are going to perform well behind a good line. Just imagine how dangerous QB's like Rogers or Brady would be behind this line.

It definitely doesn't hurt to have a wall in front of you, but Dak also has not performed poorly with the starters out. Granted, if he exclusively played with the second-teammers and third-teammers he'd probably look closer to what Showers has been instead of looking like a star.

How in the World was the Giant's Offense/Offensive line not on the "Losers" list? Is the media that incapable telling the truth about their darling NY team (their favorite one)?
