just to carry on from what i was saying earlier about the stupidity of taking it out of america. as many of you probably know i'm a celtic fan here in scotland. 6 years ago next month we reached the final of a european tournament which was played in the south of spain. although me and my mate had no chance of getting tickets for the game we scrimped and saved and borrowed so that we could get to seville to be in the same town as the game just to be there for the party. the only flights we could get was a package holiday in portugal that was flying in and out of manchester. the only problem with this was that the flight back left portugal about 7 hours after full time so we decided to book seperate flights home, we ended up getting flights from barcelona to glasgow the following week. my mate ended up getting the origianal flight back as he was trying to patch up his relationship. the point is though that to get there i got a 2 hour train down to manchester, flight to portugal for a weeks holiday (the resort was heaving with celtic fans doing the same thing), 2 hour bus through to seville the day of the game, crashed on a hotel room floor then the night after it an overnight bus up to barcelona, 3 nights on the streets in barcelona before finally getting a flight home. despite all the hassle, the travelling time and having to sleep on the streets it was fantastic - i was 21 at the time - and one of the best holidays of my life. if that game hadn't been played in europe theres no way i would have been able to get there. if you take a showpiece game out of the area of the competition you are taking it away from the everyday fan and in my opinion you are selling the soul of the tournament.
i say this as someone who a london superbowl would suit in terms of kick off times etc.
