Notable Cuts Tracker
complete list of cuts updated live here, and will use this column as a running list of the most notable names that have been released in the latest cut down:

Darnell Dockett: This was a stunner because the 49ers gave him $2 million guaranteed when they signed the longtime Arizona Cardinals defensive lineman in the offseason. To essentially flush that money down the toilet is a strong statement from San Francisco that it believes Dockett's career is over. An underrated starter for much of his career, Dockett should have an on-air career or one as a professional tweeter if he's no longer playing football.

James Jones: The Giants parted ways with the veteran wideout Saturday. Jones could draw considerable interest, particularly from the Packers where he is a familiar face.

Henry Hynoski: The fullback won a Super Bowl with the Giants but won't be part of the team's final 53 for their season opener.

Jason Babin:
The 12th-year defensive end provided the Jets with depth in 2014 but finds himself on the wrong side of the roster bubble Saturday.

Matt Flynn:
The veteran quarterback's time with the Jets did not last long. Signed in mid-August, Flynn was unable to crack the Jets' opening day roster.

I would love to get Dockett, Bowers, Nix or Taylor for the DL.

I'll take Tebow over Weeden and Turbin over Dunbar.

No on Tebow.

If Turbin's ankle checks out as non career ending, I'd be interested in bringing him in.

I am amazed at how far Hakeem Nicks has fallen. He was a very good receiver his first few seasons in the league with the Giants. Since his foot injury, he has not been the same. It's a shame - he was a very talented player. I would bring him in for a physical to see what the issue is, and see if it could be remedied. Nicks could be a real contributor if he's right physically.

Thought Turbin was placed on IR by Seattle. If not, he will not make it to us at 27.

Turbin made it through waivers unclaimed and is back on the Hawks IR.

Not sure that he was offically on waivers. Reports are Seattle was afraid they would lose him and put him directly on the IR. The trade off there is he cannot play this year.

"If Turbin cleared waivers, he’d revert to injured reserve but the Seahawks decided not to risk it. Turbin was placed directly on injured reserve Saturday, ending his season because of an ankle injury."

CBS sports also reported at 5:30 last night that Turbin was put directly on IR:

"The Seahawks placed safety Mohammed Seisay and running back Robert Turbin on injured reserve, reports ESPN."

Not sure it its true, but if so it was probably a smart move on their part.

He was released and passed through waivers.

Seahawks RB Robert Turbin passed through waivers on Saturday and went on Seattle's injured reserve list.
Nursing a five-week ankle injury, Turbin will likely be released with an injury settlement over the next month or so, which would make him an unrestricted free agent. The Seahawks kept Fred Jackson, Christine Michael, and Thomas Rawls behind Marshawn Lynch. Turbin's days in Seattle are very likely over. Sep 5 - 11:18 PM

Seahawks waived/injured RB Robert Turbin.
Marshawn Lynch's primary backup the past two seasons, Turbin has an ankle injury that will cost him five weeks, per NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. It sounds like a high ankle sprain, potentially with ligament damage. RapSheet suggests Turbin could be claimed off waivers, though he didn't put anything positive on tape this preseason, decreasing the odds he is. If Turbin is not claimed, he will head to the Seahawks' injured reserve list. The Seahawks will enter the season with Fred Jackson as Lynch's clear-cut backup. They are reportedly shopping Christine Michael in trade talks, and would like to keep UDFA Thomas Rawls. Sep 4 - 10:32 PM

Your info is the most current Irish, buddies of mine from Seattle couldn't wait to crow about it to me when Turin went directly on IR. Seahawks fear Cowboys if they get legit back, passing game and RBBC worry them not one bit.

If they put him on the IR then it is more than an ankle sprain. It must be ligament damage.

Jason Babin - the prime example of what happens when you stop taking steroids. Same with Brian Cushing.
