News: NFL: Demarcus Lawrence one win from ultimate told-you-so

Sj literally said that they didn't pursue bc Dlaw wanted to taste free agency and the offers rolling in were larger than expected. He was the best player on the defense for 10 years and the cowboys just reissued his jersey in honor of his upcoming super bowl. Thats as close we get in Dallas.
Right. They did not pursue him, so it wasn't his decision to make. He was not given an offer. Lawrence said he was going to consider his options, and since Dallas didn't make him an offer, it was not one of those options.

Based on his comments, if Dallas had made him an offer equal to Seattle's, he would have stayed here.

He has said that he wanted to stay in Dallas and it would be "a glorious thing." Dallas didn't offer him a contract, so he went to a team that did. Whether Seattle offered him the best deal or he considered it the best situation, I don't know. But if Dallas had shown him the money, based on his own comments heading into free agency, he would have stayed.

Nine times out of 10 these situations come down to the money.
Right. He clearly had situation in mind since his family is all there. No one in their right mind is going to play for less than they're reasonably worth though. Speaking of money, for his big contract from Dallas, I believe it was him that stepped in during negotiations and told his agent that $21M was enough when his agent wanted to keep pursuing more. Doesn't sound like a "money is the only thing" guy to me if I remembered that correctly.

I don't remember anyone wanting Payton gone. He was here under Parcells and was well thought of.
Oh, There were plenty people who were celebrating when he was finally removed from the team. We have a lot of the, grass is always greener over there people on this board.

I'd wish him well if he had kept his mouth shut and just enjoyed the millions he made in Dallas....instead he said he couldn't go all out because he was tired and the Hot Boyz weren't so hot when he threw his team under the bus
Yeah I dont care what anyone says, he still has the last laugh. Talking trash or not. He is there, and we are here. Simple as that.

I just remember him refusing to have surgery until a new deal was done, which kind of forced Dallas' hand but also affected his start to the season. I think a lot of guys aren't "money is the only thing," but it's the most important thing when football is your business.

Funny the people that said Kellen Moore couldn't coach.....Now he has a ring. The same people that said D-Law was washed......

Really starting to think this 30 year drought is for one reason only....and that's the people in that damn building are really that dumb.

No other way to explain it. You would think after 20 years....Hey something would sink in....catch on....but nope. Same old losing ways.

Now....Jerry has totally sold his soul to Wakanda for the sake of winning. Good luck Jerry. You deserve everything you have worked so hard for.

I agree with everything you said except for the "but Kellen Moore now has a ring".

Any coordinator with half of his brain cells intact could have won a Superbowl with that Eagles team. Moore is decent but his decision making in Dallas was trash.

His "Superbowl winning coaching ability" hasn't shown up in New Orleans yet. If Moore is really a good coach, it will eventually show with the Saints.

The point is that the team didn't offer him bc they were not willing to match the free agency offers he was getting. So, they wanted him back just at a certain price. Same with Parsons. The team wanted him until the price got too high.

It's the most important thing in any business. You don't prioritize it, you're looking for another way to make a living. I don't fault him for using whatever bargaining chip he could. How many negotiations did Jerry drag out after that only to pay them anyway until he got into a tizzy over Micah and traded him? You don't use your arrows, they'll use theirs if y'all can't agree. All's fair.

Be a pass rusher named Demarcus and you have a great shot at winning a Super Bowl when you leave the Cowboys in free agency.

This is becoming a real issue with Jerry and the front office. Are they even communicating with their players or making offers, or are they just waiting until the last minute?

It feels like the game has passed Jerry by. He doesn’t seem to have the same connection with players anymore, and important details are getting overlooked. When he’s interviewed, it often sounds like he doesn’t really know what he’s talking about.

Perhaps our team and culture needs throwing under the bus?
He was supposed to be a leader in Dallas - he really was not. Did nothing to promote a winning culture. He is not the reason for the winning culture in Seattle so I don't know what kind of "told you so" he would have.

That said, paying Ware 20 million and taking a different player or pick from the pack would have been a better move than Kenny Clark IMO

Correct, they act like this dude with some model citizen over here,

you can add to the I'm too tired and Hot boys, yeah, I believe he and Parsons and Diggs and the rest of them were all part of that alleged bad culture that was here,

They definitely were all on the fuel for that debacle in the 2023 Green Bay loss they've been on the field for plenty of head scratching defensive collapses to have so much great Super Bowl talent over here I mean must have been somebody else's issue not his couldn't have been any of them...

like this dude got lucky to go somewhere where they can dilute and hide these type of things...

Based on Lawrence's comments before free agency started, I doubt the bolded part. He stated his desire to return. "I'm going to have other options, but I'd like to stay here. It would be a glorious thing."
Thats fair....still not sure I'm completely buying into that side of things, but where you're coming from is logical.

It wasn't really his decision, though. The place he wanted to stay (Dallas) didn't want him.
Well dont get me wrong but it wasnt like that.

DFlaw wanted around 10 mils/a. We werent willing to hand him that. And thats it. Nothing more nothing less.

DFlaw wanted money, it wasnt about the place. For us we wanted him but not for his demand.

If DFlaw wanted to be here he just needed to change priorities. But the guy didnt want to. His priority has been pretty clear since he was drafted by us. Not being in Dallas, not winning football games. No, DFlaw was always about business, establishing his brand (hot boys) and getting the highest contract he can.

And that priority seems so important for him that he isnt willing to even consider other points in his decission making

He went to Seattle because this was the team that was willing to pay him the money he wanted. That Seattle now is playing great also is just luck for him he of course is willing to take. But was nothing he really considered beforehand.

I think the Seahawks are going to win. Both teams look like Cinderella but I think the Seahawks are more real than the Patriots. I think the question is really which QB will blink.

Maybe I'm misunderstanding what the debate is about on the DLaw situation, but isnt this the entire point??? He leaves Dallas to go to a stronger organization and all of a sudden the Hot boys talk is dead, the injuries go away, he plays in 19 games being a top run defender while being part of double digit sacks.

Somehow the argument has morphed into did DLaw want to leave or not, which who really knows, but the issue to me is Dallas has been trending down for two years making bad defensive coaching moves while DLaw moves to another organization and looks like the 2017 breakout version of himself again.

The Cowboys may be on the verge of reversing the trend with their latest hire, but DLaw wasn't exactly wrong when he was talking smack on his way out last year. It may have been the wrong character move, people can debate that all they want, but the Cowboys defense was a joke last year.

..sounds like Mr X-Hotboyz....is blowing his toot again.

Sure wish, the Patriots were playing them. Anyone else would be my favorite.
