I’m talking about NFL draft scout Tony Pauline. You may know Pauline from his tremendous work over at draftinsider.net. You may also know Pauline from the draft specials he does in the offseason for packers.com and philadelphiaeagles.com.

Pauline knows his stuff, and he’s a guy many members of the media consult when they need an expert’s opinion on players in the NFL Draft. Pauline has been scouting players since the mid-90s when he first started feeding New York area reporters information on potential NFL prospects, and he’s been doing it ever since.

As a former decathlete, Pauline knows how to identify great athletes and is one of the best in the business in analyzing players coming out of college. Player analysis is a year-round process for Pauline and his vast knowledge about each draft prospect reflects this.

I recently had the privilege to speak with Pauline over the phone about the draft. In this extensive interview, I asked Pauline everything from who he believes the Green Bay Packers could select in the first round to his take on some of the top draft prospects at each major position of need on the Packers roster.

Q. The Packers are going to need to add some defensive linemen this offseason. You already talked about Nix, so what are your thoughts on Ra’Shede Hageman, Aaron Donald, and Stephon Tuitt?

Pauline: I don’t want to say Ra’Shede Hageman was bad at the Senior Bowl, but I don’t think he played as good as many people thought he should have. He definitely hurt his draft stock. Aaron Donald was tremendous in Mobile and really stood out all week.

I’m not a fan at all of Tuitt. I think he’s overrated. He’s a big tall guy that’s got great size. He dominates on occasion, but he’s a tall guy who plays tall. He lets people underneath him and doesn’t consistently play with leverage. If you watch the Michigan game he was being taken out of plays by tight ends. He’ll wow everybody on occasion and then he’ll disappear for three or four series.

While Tuitt is a good developmental prospect that may be good in time, there is no way in my opinion you take that type of player in round one. I think he’s more of a day two player.

It's a small quip, but you may want to put that whole post in quotes. I thought I was reading your own words until I went to the link.

Tuitt and Nix got royally dominated by Alabama in '13.
