If he sucks on TV he may sign with Cleveland just to save face.

There will be some QB injuries next season,,, but will they be on a team worth playing for ? That's where the 100% certainty takes a hit.

What's it going to be then, eh?

So CBS will release him mid-season?

It is not like they own him like property. All he would likely have to do is buy off his contract.

I don't buy that chances are 100% he comes back because it will likely be for a very sizeable amount of money. I don't know how much CBS is paying him, so that has a lot to do with it. But it is not like he is not earning a pretty penny for the next few years with what is leftover from his Dallas contract.

Aikman wanted to return with Miami. And Romo has way more game than Aikman had at the end.
Very true
These guys have played the game their whole lives
Walking away is very tough
At some point romo may get a chance to come back, and if he does I wish him the best

I'm sure Tony will get the itch at some point to play again, but don't think he'll do it. With the new CBS job and the chance to play and work on his golf game, I think Tony will be just fine. I do expect to see Tony enter more golf tourneys tho.

Watching the game from the broadcast booth every week is tough when you still have that competitve spirit. I will believe it when the playoffs come around and Romo is still in the broadcast booth.

Every morning that Tony wakes up rolls out of bed and his back doesn't feel like it's in a vice. Looks over and sees his beautiful wife.. and his kids jump in bed with him. Is the only reminder he needs to stay away from the Game.

this is like explaining to morons, 2+2 is 4. THan they sit there and argue it.

Tony is going to Houston. In nooooooo way in the real world would A) Tony say, let me go to Houston, who has done nothing worth while, Plus Houston say "Sweet deal , lets get a QB who wont make teh season THAN DO like Dallas and gamble the season on the fact our starting QB wont go down.

I'm sure his CBS contract will have a clause allowing him to return to the NFL if an opportunity arises.

It'll 100% be the opposite. CBS will not allow him to play QB again after offering this type of position (who would they fill the position mid-season with?), Plus Romo would never get that oppurtunity again.

I can see if he was an analyst, but not the #1 broadcaster.

If the Do Right Rule applies both ways and it should, than Romo should run it by Jones first if it is with another team. I highly doubt it but it is the right thing to do.

I wouldn’t be surprised at all if he plays next year. The fly in ointment is that the Cowboys “released” him even though he retired. Maybe someone can explain this, but what reason could there be to just drop his rights? There was no difference cap wise between his retirement and his release. Apparently the Cowboys did this at Tony’s request. So any said “I’m retiring, but cold you release me too,so you don’t have any rights to me?”

If Romo has a change of heart and decides to play, Houston can get him easy as anything, offer him a one year deal with no large contract previously attached.

Something is fishy.

Nothing is fishy bro, not everything is a conspiracy.............Dallas could not spread his cap hit over 2 seasons if he retired and they put him on the retire list. In order to designate as a June 1 cut and spread his cap hit over 2 seasons instead of just this one, they had to release him.

They also didn't want Romo to be obligated to pay back around $5 million in signing bonus if he was placed on the retire list, so its was basically severance pay.

I doubt he'll be back...these jobs to be part of lead broadcast team don't come along very often.

There's a reason why he asked for his release before retiring and it's not because of returning any signing bonus.

Our GM allowed his team to lose his rights.
