From Bleacher Report, so maybe it's garbage. But according to this reporter, NFL executives are looking at what the Cowboys have been doing over the past few years and taking notice. Feel feel to trash the message or the messenger ...

The NFC general manager says something that hasn't been heard in a long time, maybe since the 1990s, when Jimmy Johnson, Troy Aikman, Emmitt Smith and Michael Irvin wrecked the NFL with multiple Super Bowl wins.

"The Cowboys," he says, "are starting to scare me."

Why?

"You could always count on Jerry Jones **** things up," he says. "That isn't happening any longer. That's a Super Bowl-caliber team now."

Honestly, we are a few pieces away from being legit, perennial contenders. The way the offensive line and backfield has been built, we will be plug-and-play for the next QB to takes the reigns (obviously finding that QB is another story).

If we get get this defense to a TOP 10 level--watch out.

Healthy Romo and a few more playmakers on defense are the big factors here. Those fall into place, sky's the limit.

That being said, while the roster might be rounding into shape, I still have questions about Garrett. I think he's just middle of the road in terms of head coaching acumen. Jerry loves Garrett but you have to wonder if 2016 is a disappointing season, would Stephen be more inclined to cut bait and influence his dad to move on and try to get someone in here that can maybe make something of Romo's last couple of years.

The next step to a Lombardi is bringing in a stud DL with proven productivity. A young vet like Muhammad Wilkerson. Wilkerson immediately improves the pass rush and the young D players around him, no "ifs" and "wishes" required. The future is now.

I give credit to Jerry Jones for one very smart thing... hiring Jimmy Johnson. That Hershel Walker deal was a doozie as well. Beyond that, it's not been good with Jerry. I just don't see Stephen doing worse. Maybe he'll prove me wrong.

Credible source or not, I too would be concerned about the Cowboys if I'm scheduled to face them this year. The Cowboys are much closer to that 14 and 2 team than the 2 and 14 nightmare they were a year ago.

His asking price is going to be ridiculous and while I like him, he's only had two seasons of more than 10 sacks in 5 years. The other three years were 3, 5 and 5 sacks. Seems like feast or famine for him.

He's been a stud the last 3 seasons. 10 sacks in 2013, 5.5 sacks in 2014 (in 6 games I believe, injured) and 12 sacks in 2015. Not feast or famine at all. He is a team leader and well respected around the league. Not just dominant rushing passer but against the run. Plus a true RKG.

Would pull the trigger. He can help now, versus next season when we are still looking and expecting a rook, or a young guy with upside, to make it happen. Need some PROVEN experience and leadership on the DL. At 26, Wilkerson is on the rise. Could be best DL not named JJ Watt.

...said no one ever

It's really all about the QB play we get.

Then you can start pointing toward the Oline, Dez, and stuff like that...

This organization is a distant 2nd to Romo though and our roster & coaching is really one of the worst in football without Romo.

I do feel like though that a offensive coaching staff that would give us an advantage on game day could put this roster with solid QB play around 8-8 - 10-6.

All those moral victories we've been racking up over the last few years are instilling fear in the rest of the league. They see that 4-12 record last year and are shaking in their proverbial boots.

I go with CyberBob. We have a 36 year old QB and missed the playoffs 5 out of the last 6 years....we scare no one.

If they could only put it together on the field. I started to tell this board in 2013 that this team is drafting better. I believe our biggest problem is the organization approach to training camp is to get out of it healthy. That damn sure was our biggest problem last season. Truth be told: we looked like crap the 2 games Romo played.

Our training camp approach has to change.
